View Full Version : Why does it take x minutes to read 10% of a book...

.... but not x10 minutes to read the whole thing?

Ever noticed that? Get to page 50 in around x mins, but the remaining 450 takes more than x9 to read?

I guess it's because past the "set up" phase the book becomes more "involved" and needs more attention etc, but it's still looking at and absorbing words on pages...

…when you think about it, it probably should be the opposite, shouldn’t it…?…in that, when we’re getting to know characters and the plot etc is being established at the beginning and when we’re absorbing all of those things to find our connections…?…it should be a slower process ….but then there might be more ‘filler sections’ that we can speed read more later…
