I'm 42, and am often told I don't look that - never mind over 60. :fist:

Apparently, Tuesday is 10% off in Iceland if you're over 60.

Madness.

What did you think and say?

That's ridiculous really.

I had thought that afterwards. :p:joker:

But the guy who said it, had a big black eye two weeks ago. I think he might be in the habit of upsetting people.:hehe::hee:

…I would have also said…I’m whatever age I need to be to have a 10% discount today…I don’t know if under 12yrs old still get to eat free at Pizza Hut but my boys staged a protest when they were around 27yrs old, screaming ….mom, can we NOT be under 12s anymore …they’re way to expensive to take out for lunch now…life in the discount lane…

Age is a funny thing.

On the other end of the scale you get 80-year-old grannies getting ID’d for a bottle of sherry. It’s not even worth taking it personal. Some people are just stupidly bad at telling age.

It's retail and it's a promotion they're doing - the consequence of not asking and missing a potential "mystery customer" is having to endure patronising bull**** from higher-up jobsworths. The consequence of casting the net wide and just asking everyone who looks over 30 is ... nothing really. Potentially pissing off a customer but no front-line staff member in a large company is going to be bothered by that :joker:.

'tis the same reason the opposite happens and some 40 year olds still get ID'd for age-restricted products. It's not that the staff member is "dumb" or ACTUALLY thinks you look under-25... it's that they're playing it safe on the off change that you're an age-tester and they're going to get a bollocking for missing it and getting a fail.

You’ve always got a full; smart-arse answer to these things.
