I'm actually kinda funny about the smell of lavender but it has its uses when it comes to relaxation and helping people just sleep better. There are other essential oils that fit that bill but lavender is a classic one.

I feel like more people should be open to using essential oils for cleaning's sake. I know there's this belief that a cleaning solution probably doesn't work unless it has the potential to burn your skin but essential oils aren't exactly kind on the skin undiluted (which is why they're supposed to be used with a carrier-oil, like coconut, if they're not in-built into your shampoo or deodorant), there aren't any potential toxic/hazardous cross-reactions (like there are with things involving stuff like bleach) and it's all natural stuff. Essential oils, white vinegar, borax, sodium-bicarbonate, tea-bags (normal or chamomile), washing-up liquid and so many of these other things are natural cleaners that aren't as toxic as bleach, not that bleach don't have its place. It's just not the first thing I run to when I wanna clean. I make my own concoctions and even take them into work (likewise for my air-diffuser) if I can get away with it.

I use wax melts, joysticks, and cones over essential oil. The electric oil burners are better and not as dangerous as using a candle. I've had so many oil burners crack because of the heat.

You have a point about essential oils and candles being ... a combo to be approached with caution at least. It's alright when the candle comes pre.-infused with essential oils but when you're adding them directly to the candle, it makes the candle more flammable, at least to begin with. If the candle's not pre.-scented it's better to just use an air-diffuser (let the thyme, hemp, patchouli and bergamot marinate in the air whatever Friday night takes your fancy) and just light the candle normally and separate from essential oils.

They smell really nice. You can buy a big box of them on Amazon for a tenner. I travelled to an incense shop to get mine.

The thing is, hemp essential oil is one thing (just another plant in the grand scheme of plants of value) but having a room stinking of green in the name of incense is another thing. Not everyone wants that or lives in an environment where it won't the smell won't be misinterpreted as actual weed.
