Did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

Let's be honest, they've only really got about 3 good songs.

Pretentious sods with their 3 hour songs.

They were the reason that punk started. Because the kids said, "what's all this nonsense? Let's reinvent rock music"

Led Zep were by far better than Floyd.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk ProWell you can compare. Because when the question is asked "Who was the best rock band of the 1970s?" These are the two bands that will be mentioned the most.

I think the bee gees would like a word. Not really a rock band. They ruled the disco genre in the 70s

3 if you count the who.Like the Rolling Stones, The Who will always come in the 60s bracket, because that was their commercial time.

But the Rolling Stones were by far the best rock band in the World in the 1970s.

Queen have also undergone a massive upswing in the intervening years and are far more likely to be mentioned alongside the other two than they were back in the day. They've undoubtedly more mainstream appeal, too. Especially among the youth of today, who I've noticed find it harder to get into the likes of Led Zeppelin. I don't think as much the case with Queen or Pink Floyd. Zeppelin are a band that I've always thought were more popular in the states than they were in Britain. The sales might not bear that out, I really don't know, but that's always the impression I got. Americans tend to deify British rock bands that they 'get' and elevate them through their popular culture in a way that we generally don't care to.

Also, I think the Rolling Stones were at their best with Brian Jones.

From 1968 to 1981 that was when the Stones were at their best. They were still decent in their early days. They were still good in the 80s and 90s. They still put on a great show today.

Believe it or not, the stones have played kelso town hall. Along with the kinks and many others. In those days the top stars played everywhere. Not like the stars today who just play a few gigs at big arena's.

Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones all played in a place that's a 10 minute walk from my house. It's a carpet warehouse now.

Yeah, luckily the tait hall is still standing. Not much goes on there now apart from coffee mornings and blood donations. Shame really.

My tastes are famously eclectic

My absolute favourites would include The Beatles and Metallica ( saw them LIVE at the M.E.N arena !)

The drummer in Pink Floyd, Nick Mason has a band called Saucerful of Secrets - they play early Pink Floyd songs.

I was wondering if it is worth seeing them live?

By the end of 1975 & 1976, they hired Lead Guitarist Tommy Bolin
did some shows
Young Cool Guitarist Tommy Bolin
then took the wrong drugs
and died just aged 25.
Dec 4th 1976

After Ritchie Blackmore left Deep Purple,
they picked Tommy Bolin.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Bolin

Tommy Bolin used the tape echo effect box
like no other Guitarist

[The Echoplex was almost like
another instrument to him]

Have you listened to Piper at the gates of dawn? That's likely to be the era he is playing from. It's very different from their later work
