Hi James
Just wondered if Tibb is in your long term plans. Are we going to keep going for the foreseeable future. I sincerely hope so. I'm only concerned in case it ever ends and we'll have no way to keep in touch with others? Is there any way people who want to do so join a database and give you their mobile numbers, so you could put us all back together somehow? Just a thought.
Regards
Kate.

Yeah, I will keep it going for the foreseeable future. There is a cost to running it, and it doesn't earn any money back at the moment, but it is manageable.
I have thought about giving people a way to enter an alternative contact method (eg. phone number) for the purposes of logging in if you can't access your account.

Well yes that is a good idea but it doesn't address the issue of how we could all stay in touch if Tibb God forbid was to close?

Probably wouldn't be good to have the whole forum with a subscription fee, it might turn people off but maybe James could have a secret section of the forum or something and anyone who paid a sub gained entry?

When i joined The Wrestling Forum 300 years ago (don't go on there now). You had to pay an entry fee or something. It was £25 for lifetime membership, or £15 a year i think. As to the questions asked by the poll, no, I wouldn't pay anything to keep this place going. There are times when I would have gladly contributed, but the forum is a comprehensive lesson in mismanagement.
Failure to address long term issues of bigotry have seen lots of members leave unnecessarily. Lots of those members didn't particularly like me; in some cases I felt that was a shame, in others the feelings were pretty mutual, and some I just really liked. But they brought different perspectives, and created movement. Currently, I can check in every couple of days/weeks/months/whatever, and I know one of the 5 post templates of LT will be spread across the forum (Muslims/black fathers/blacks in general/trans/communist lefties). TIBB expected young people to stick around after BB to read this stream of nonsense. Not hating on LT, either, because just like Aesop's scorpion - it's just his nature, and it's not his fault it's been not only allowed to happen, but actively defended by those with the power of Admin. I actually think LT would be a good dude to anyone that knew him IRL, and I also don't believe he believes half the stuff he posts - it's just for reaction.
I pointed out years ago, that unless this was addressed tibb would end up being little more than a tibb version of MSM for the permanently aggrieved by modernity, and well here we are.
The Sandra Bullock birdbox infraction system would also have to be scrapped, because no one would give £10/month (as an example) to tibb, to then be banned for 2 of those weeks.
There was no need for tibb to be where it is now, and if it is close to going under, then that's because of choices that were purposefully made.
It's just the free market doing it's thang :smug:

Tbh I don't know about paying for TIBB, but I definitely am up for alternative ideas for if the site does shut down one day.
And I get where Slim Reaper is coming from to a point, but tbf to LT I would say that I think that any of us that regularly post on here bare some responsibility for the Forum's decline in popularity, because for some reason or another we're not drawing new people to the site, and have even lost members over time.
Yes controversial Political topics definitely doesn't help, which I feel like a lot of us have contributed to that problem tbf.
And I don't think that we've necessarily managed ourselves very well since BB ended on Channel 5, we've kind of struggled to deal with BB's lack of mainstream popularity.
I still wonder if we should rebrand as a general Reality TV Forum, what do you guys think?

I was talking about tibb from a business perspective, and why there's very clear and obvious reasons for the site not doing as well. Namely, throwing over half of your previous customers over board to protect a tiny fraction of reactionaries, that the site is now almost exclusively wedded to, will never ever be remotely close to the front page of any business plan.
The fact that you've had to try and make that about me wanting to be more popular, shows exactly why a grown up discussion isn't for you, lil homie :smug:

I agree with some of your points on the political posts but you've got to remember that Big Brother was off the air for five years, and people were looking for something else to talk about.
It could have been (and a lot of it was) about other TV, general and personal topics, but they also chose to post about political issues, and politics is divisive.
It probably not for the best that we have it on here, and it obviously puts some people off it, but it is tricky to say we are going to disallow it and drawing the line is tricky.
I am pleasantly surprised that the forum has kept going, even when Big Brother wasn't on, and when it came back others returned. Also when I think about it the friendships and community that have been created over the entire history of the forum is something to be proud of I think.
Another thing is people might not be aware of is all the drama that has gone on over the years, not just in the last few. Ridiculous stuff in some cases.

Well I love TiBB its the only place I post, I am not on any other forums, at times I think people take it a bit too seriously I can add myself to that list, but not so much any more  I find it funny that LT is constantly singled out for comment, say what you like at least he starts threads and contributes, whether people like that contribution or not is neither here nor there, people say they don't want an echo chamber but I think that is exactly what they want with only their own views coming back at them
Its amazing that the forum has survived BB being off the air for so long :clap1:
Yeah I'd say the biggest factor in the forum losing members is that it's dedicated to a TV show that everyone thought had been cancelled for good nearly six years ago. When that happened we were only going to lose members and not gain them and its natural for some people to fall away, life changes after all. Traditional forums like this are also a declining form of social media and most people use other websites and apps to discuss things these days
I agree with James that it was a pleasant surprise that the forum stayed active after C5 axed BB and it was great to see a lot of people return for the ITV series. It's also true that this place endured off the scales drama for years when it had a lot bigger membership. The toxicity was way higher than it has been in the last couple of years
At the end of the day forums are defined and sustained by their membership and everyone is an individual with their own views and posting habits. It's not for us to strictly control everything on here and try and moderate everything to fit a certain mold.

.
I'm not really taking about political posts, I'm talking about the stream of abuse thrown at minority communities on a near continual basis. If anyone goes into a political thread and gets upset because of political name calling, then that's on them (to an extent), but if I'm a new member just browsing the forum, and I see a constant stream of black people are stabby stabby, or Muslims just want to blow everyone up, or this country lets in the trash, then that's on the site.
I feel it's partly because of long standing forum rules. As another example. lets say Ammi calls me a clown and got an infraction for it, but lets say she calls me that because every single one of my posts were about black fathers being absent, then surely Ammi is in the right? I feel there's a disconnect between what's really harmful for the reputation of the site (the bigotry), and what the site perceives as harmful - bit of stupid name calling.
I don't think anyone has left the site (although I could be wrong and stand corrected) because they didn't like how the left/right were being spoken about in the political section, but I know lots have left the site because of how their personal minority communities have been spoken about, and the tacit approval provided by TIBBS failure to address these issues.

You asked for opinions, and people have varying opinions, 10 people (and Zizu) have said they wouldn’t pay, not just Glenn, he’s as entitled to an opinion as the rest of you.
My opinion is along the lines of Glenn’s, but also very similar to Slim’s, I barely post as it is, it used to feel like a big community, and it’s lost that feel a lot, this days it’s a smaller one. (Due to various reasons, some that have been covered, but not exclusive to that)
I used to play a lot of the games, and there’d always be different casts, whereas now every game seems to be exactly the same people playing, so I’m never really inspired to sign up to any of them, or to post much.
I know after posting the other week, a few people said it’s nice to see me around, I’ve not left, I’ve been on the forum most days, I just don’t see any topics I want to interact with, and I know that I could make one, but I’m also not hugely inspired to do that either, so I wouldn’t pay for it.
Whilst I have made some very good friendships off this website, I speak to almost all of them on a different platform now, it’s only really Ammi that I message on here. (And even then, when she left the forum I spoke to her elsewhere)

Do you think maybe having a new sub-Forum would rejuvenate your interest in the Forum?
I don’t think so if I’m honest, I think an influx of new and interesting members, as well as the return of some of the nice ex TiBBers would probably inspire me more. I remember a real change when Kate originally returned.
I’m going to take part in the gorgeous Ammi’s pointless game, and if Niamh brings back top answers, they’re always fun to do, but I think that’s basically it for now, I think forums are naturally dying anyway, which is a shame as I like the format of a forum with topics a lot more than the newer themes of discords.

In all honesty I wouldn’t mind paying a nominal fee of £1 a month - thats what I pay for the Pro Version of TapaTalk

…I don’t really have time for much of a post as I’m rushing off but…I do understand what Slim is saying in that he’s responding to and giving some reasoning as to why a paid subscription for forum/TiBB use wouldn’t be something he would consider…I mean, that makes complete sense, doesn’t it…for things that we choose to subscribe to…we would hope for those things to align to us and with us …that would be a ‘good business model’ type thing, as he says…
