What do you think is wrong with the England football team. Where do you think the team can improve?

I'll go first but I think the points are obvious.
Trent is not a midfielder. Even Klopp says he's an inverted defender not a midfielders. The midfield, from the players available, should be Foden, Bellingham, Rice.
I admire Trent but its like Rice cant get forward cuz he's too concerned with Trent

I think the failure to get a replacement for KP
Who has been sh1t for the last 2 seasons is what has gone wrong
stands to reason, innit
I would have TAA has right wingback and Wharton paired up with him

Crazy as it sounds Southgate should have brought Henderson to play midfield

Too many darkies (TIBB template number 3).:laugh:

According to the incompetent manager but unfortunately his logic makes no sense.

I just laughed when I heard him say that
Its the kind of thing a parody account would tweet out :joker:
I think you have to analyse what Southgate actually said. No midfielder exists in England that is up to the standard of a guy that has played about 3 competitive games in 3 years. So Rice, Foden, Palmer, Bellingham etc are just not good enough

HE's also saying that Wharton, Gallagher and Mainoo are not as good as Kalvin Phillips. I'd say they were different but actually better than Phillips.

Also, if the manager has been looking for an 'adequate replacement' for Kalvin Phillips then why has a player like James Ward-Prowse payed so few games.
The manager chats a lot of jibber jabber usually with no push back. Finally people are seeing that he talks alot of crap that doesn't make sense or requires a follow up. Unfortunately, if he's grilled in pressers then whoever did the grilling would not be invited to the next press conference.

He also talks about "we lacked cohesion on the ball"
its all 90s management consultant bollocks
he hasn't a clue and the players have realised

I think it has a lot to do with the mentality of the players. These are guys that have wealth beyond comprehension, they keep hearing that they are the best players england ever had, so when they score a goal, they think that's the job done now so they just ease off. If you listen to what some of the players said, it was like ... why are you all moaning .... we won .... we drew .... we qualified. They don't see the problem. It's arrogance more than anything else
From a "fans" perspective, they see a bunch of over entitled under achievers. The bubble has to burst at some point.

I'm gonna stick up for the players. In as much I agree footballers are spoilt and over paid, I have to point out that these players dont act like Prima Donnas when playing for their clubs. Their managers would never allow it.
I think the issue at international level is with the manager not the players
They need to find a formation that allows stones more freedom to push forward through the centre of midfield. That is they key.

Great idea. Stones has shown he can move into the midfield for City. I think it was one of the big factors why Man City won the Champions league last year. Southgate cant see it just thinks England need 'an adequate replacement' for Kalvin Phillips. Southgate's level of cluelessness is clear for all to see.
This is the thing though. We aint talking about an England great ie Gerrard, Lampard, Beckham, Scholes etc. We're talking about Kalvin Phillips. Kalvin friggin Phillips. Southgate needs to p*ss off after the tournament and chat his bollocks somewhere else
Simple. Just win and win comfortable next game.
Do that and the confidence will be back in the fans for the knock-out stage.
We're unbeaten and haven't played well so far. We're already basically in the knock out-games.
There's and old saying "that if you can still win by not being at your best, then it's the sign of a good team"
Next game is a different game, on a different day. No pressure on it, we can go out and attack the game. Get a good win and that will set us up nicely for the next stage.

I would go more attacking minded.
I would have Bellingham going further forward, and I would have Kane and Watkins up front with each other.
I also would have Foden on the bench in place of Palmer.
I would also take a gamble on Konsa playing left back instead of Trippier.

The consensus is that Trent will be dropped for Conor Gallagher. Bold and ambitious move by Gareth.
Has anyone clocked that so far England have scored as many goals as Scotland!!!!

England and France have both had the same issue in front of goal this tournament it seems.
It's just both teams are less clumsy defensively, which separates us from Scotland.

Now that we know all Gareth is gonna do is swap Gallagher for Trent, a part of me want England to lose just to ramp up the pressure on him.
We know Southgate is stubborn with his selection but is he prepared to die on this hill. Lets put that to the test. When he was constantly selecting Maguire and Henderson its clear, to me, that he was digging his heels in just to make a point. Now lets see how far he is prepared to go with his stubbornness.
Come on Slovenia. I don't see how anyone can possibly think that just changing one element in the midfield will solve any problems and if England go into the knockout stage on the back of a defeat it could hopefully see the end of Gareth and coaching style that comes from another decade.

Mainoo for Gallagher is the only change.
Judging by Gareth lack of any other changes I think he is indeed trying to find a replacement for Kalvin Phillips. Surely he can see that's not the only thing wrong with the team
i think he will put Kane in goal for the next game and try pickford in midfield. He must be a natural replacement for Phillips
