thank you Arista for a separate thread
not too big problems, they are now busy with cleaning the Seine again, so these open water events are just postponed until it is safe to swim
apparently before the rainfall, it was cleaned and given the green light, but the rain cleared out whatever they used to clean the seine with

La Seine is dirty. Not a great idea to swim there. Didn't they have a better river to use?

…it’s a very unfortunate placing of the tights rip so yeah, is definitely a wardrobe mis function for sure, as described…but it is his thigh only and exactly what a ripped tight skin reveal is, that’s plain to see…and isn’t really something that s9meone has control over when their tights rip to reveal the thigh skin underneath…
…I would list a ‘problem’ as being Steven van de Velde, the Dutchman competing who was convicted for raping a 12-year-old girl in 2016…
…ahhh, you’ve already posted that above, Arista…that really does seem to be a concerning thing…

he competes at these olympics, nothing you guys can do about that
…no, nothing we can do about that, Nicky…but it does feel as though it betrays the values of Olympians which have historically conveyed excellence…and someone who has served a prison sentence for raping a child, wouldn’t appear to fit that at all…anyway, what I can personally do about that is to feature it in the problems at the Olympics thread, which I’m doing…(…as has Arista…)…

…no, he actually didn’t serve his time, Nicky…he served 12 months of a 4 year sentence in UK prison and was then transferred to the Netherlands to finish his prison sentence… but was released after only a month…so no, even by reduced sentence served standards etc….he didn’t serve his time…

We banned the lady quite rightly for whipping an innocent animal, but we allow a man who raped a 12 year old child to compete, I guess woman and girls really dont matter these days at all, it is incomprehensible to me, he will I assume be on the sex offenders register if they have one in the Neds? do they Nicky?

…it’s probably best not to post in a thread were the title and vein is ‘problems with…..’…then, Nicky…because that would indicate negativity and you thanked Arista for putting those problems in a separate thread…it seems like a good plan, doesn’t it..so as not to divert other threads designated to the sporting events themselves etc…?…
…but if you go into a thread that has ‘problems at…’ in the title and then you put all posters on ignore because they list a problem or highlight a problem or discuss a problem etc as they see it…?…then that seems silly and complicated…the simpler way is to just not enter the thread and leave everyone off ignore…problem solved/positive outcome…and keeps forum communication ticking along…

my opinions are my own
but i do kinda agree about Van de Velde competing being highly controversial yes, however our committee and the broadcaster never lets themselves get too biased by whats been on the news

He is a Paedophile, Nicky.
This isn't some petty Political issue, this is something that nobody should come back from if they cross that line.
Controversially, if the victim had've been 15, I might have thought that maybe he mistook her age (which can happen tbf,) but nobody can say that a 12 year old looks 18 or above, there's very different body types going on without going too deep into it.
He is a sick freak, and Beach Volleyball and the Netherlands should both be ashamed that they've allowed him to compete at this year's Olympics.

The biggest problems apart from the drug cheats and the blokes competing in the women’s events with the Olympics is the scheduling and actually finding the events on TV
We have BBC 1 and 2 , BBC iPlayer , EuroSport 1 & 2 plus Discovery+ and I am still missing key events

After the medley event on Monday, Team GB's Adam Peaty opened fire on the Chinese team, saying "there's no point winning if you're not winning fair".
Swim legend Michael Phelps, who has been vocal about doping issues, also doubled down: "If you test positive, you should never be allowed to come back and compete again, cut and dry. I believe one and done," he told the Associated Press news agency.

"Any doubt is just a joke. Stress only makes us stronger," Qin Haiyang - a part of China's history-making men’s 4x100m medley quartet posted after their unprecedented victory over the US on Monday.
Qin's seeming defiance came at the tail end of what has been a challenging time for China in the pool.
Some of the country's top swimmers - including Qin and his relay teammate Sun Jiajun- have faced a slew of doping allegations, followed by contentious US claims that the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) was covering it up.
They were among 23 Chinese swimmers who returned positive doping tests ahead of the Tokyo Olympics.
And although Chinese swimmers have been drug-tested twice as much as some other nations this year before heading to Paris, their performance has been met with scepticism.

accusing the Dutch rider of attempting to headbutt Wood.
'What on earth was the Dutch rider doing

took Ollie Wood out for no reason,' one fan posted.
'That Madison was carnage, too many

'That looked deliberate- it’s a headbutt.
