Trouble with thrusters
made by Boeing
What a Stink it will be
[Sunita Williams flew to the International Space Station (ISS)
aboard a Boeing spacecraft in June,
but have been stuck indefinitely in space.
Engineers on Earth are attempting
to diagnose leaks that forced failures
to the spacecraft's thrusters]
…that’s pretty horrendous for them…8 days turning into 8 months and beyond…this is probably why I wouldn’t go into space, it’s just open for so much deviation…
the space station is designed for extended stays
…see, that would be a red flag for me…when I’m only going for 8 days, WHY is it DESIGNED for LONG STAYs…space wouldn’t be for me, I like to have a smooth working schedule…

they usually have teams of 4 or more that do stints of 6-12 months, so while it may seem like a big deal, it's really not

That would be my worst nightmare, its bad enough if you have to delay a return from holiday due to weather conditions which has only happened twice over all the years but its not a nice feeling when you have planned to return and are ready and are then stuck trying to rearrange things ....like Ammi space travel would not be for me, and what if they cant fix the issue surely that must have crossed their minds at some point :worry:

Yeah I keep seeing reporting of this that seems like it's saying she's going to be unexpectedly totally stranded up there alone for several months but that's really not the case - hers was meant to be a brief stay, but there are other people up there too on long stays, it's manned at all times. There are regularly scheduled arrivals and departures and "in emergency" they can get them all down if it was to come to that.

Didn't Musk offer to send a ship to pick her up? Honestly no chance I'd be getting in a Musk funded experimental Space Tesla, I'd take my chances on the station.
