Isn't one of the big narrative points of the original Snow White supposed to be that Snow White is prettier than the Evil Queen, and that the Evil Queen is meant to be fuelled by jealousy around that to some extent?

Well when I think back to the animated Disney made in the 1930's , The Evil Queen was never actually ugly physically :joker:...the ironic thing is she made herself ugly by posing as a old witch/ hag to trick snow white . But she was jealous as the talking mirror said Snow white was the ' fairest of them all' ,I guess snow white had youth and kindness on her side, oh and she could sing aswell ...which automatically made her prettier :laugh: .

I never understood Dinklage's beef with the whole dwarf thing anyway, I was also reading on IMDB that he didn't even know what the dwarves home looked like in snow white, and he mistakenly called it a "cave" ...... when it's actually a nice cottage.

Bear in mind he's very successful in his career and he gets big roles in acting , so hardly competition for him .

Not everyone is getting the roles he's getting, there was even comments saying odd things like "is there even 7 dwarf actors out there", it made my eyes rolls ....when there's plenty of dwarf actors , and probably more upcoming ones who don't get their big break, and are wishing they get chosen :shrug:.

I think the best thing would have been either cast real dwarf actors, or just hire real actors in general and do special effects like with Hugh Grant in Wonka, even that would still be better than entire lazy CGI .

yes one of the dwarfs is an actor with dwarfism, but the others are cast similar to Hugh Grant's casting as the oompa loompa in wonka, edited with CGI, not all actors with dwarfism feel something for this role

same how they made Imelda Staunton a small fairy in Maleficent films through usage of CGI (whom played that stunningly well too)

i personally might be in a minority but i just gotta hand it to production to pull off these visuals stunningly perfect compared to the classic

i also think this is getting criticism because of Rachel Zegler's entitledness and hating on the classic, which she shouldn't have done tbh, the classic was done a way long time ago, and everyone is perfectly entitled to have their own version of Snow White as long as it more or less looks the same

also takes up quite some time to perfect all that on the computer though, same technology used also in Jurassic Park/World films (besides animatronics)



for all we know Rachel might know something more than we do, and this version of Snow White is going to be a pure joy to watch

i get the criticism and everything, but i am looking forward to it, when it arrives on disney+, visually it looks very well made, so pretty


i wish Rachel Zegler wouldn't have bashed the original but at least we know for certain she won't be asked for further disney projects i think


as for the dwarfs, it is nicer to use actual actors with dwarfism but is that really a big problem?

the voice acting choices were done quite properly, with Martin Klebba being the most experienced within Disney

Rachel makes a perfect snow white casting looks wise i mean, and she is entitled of her own opinion, same how Peter Dinklage was entitled to bash the stereotype of dwarfs in a cave, maybe that is why actors with dwarfism didn't want to play those characters, and tbh in these modern times you have the most advanced CGI tech so why not use it


replacing the prince with the ''Jonathan'' character to give it more modern spin, i mean why not


a hot bombshell like Gal Gadot as the evil queen, well i mean Lana Perrilla on Once Upon a Time also a gorgeous looking woman as the evil queen, we had Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, whom also looks very beautiful

Lana Parrilla from Once Upon A Time was beautiful as the Evil Queen I agree, I don't know what she looks like now tbf so that's why I'm speaking about her looks in a past tense.


And Rachel Zegler tbf is not ugly by any means, but being brutally honest they haven't done her any justice by putting her up against Gal Gadot.

I know that the narrative isn't purely on the looks, but it's just hard for me to take it seriously that one of Gal Gadot's characters would be jealous of another woman's looks.

I'm not saying that I personally think that Gal Gadot is the best looking woman of all time (I'm not saying that she isn't either, each to their own on that,) but it's very clear to me that a lot of women should be feeling very confident about their looks if they looked like Gal Gadot, not supposedly jealous of another woman's appearance.

Where as at least Lana Parrilla and Ginnifer Goodwin are more I think equal to each other on Once Upon A Time, so it doesn't look really strange that Regina/The Evil Queen would be jealous about "who the fairest of them all" is meant to be.

yes about disliking the original snow white's storyline


also as for the computerized dwarves, well idk if i would be annoyed by that, but honestly, in Maleficent you also had the likes of actresses Imelda Staunton, Lesley Manville, Juno Temple miniature versions as those pixies

pretty sure the visuals for the dwarves just look computerized, but i'm sure they'll feel real enough through the voice acting performances

yes but that was more because Rachel wanted a slightly modernized take on this classic


tbh the Snow/Jonathan chemistry feels much more natural



and the hatred was also about CGI dwarves instead of using actors with dwarfism, but honestly that is something which i myself didn't care too much about anyway, also one of the voice actors is one with dwarfism, Martin Klebba (voice of Grumpy)


and they used the likeness of most voice actors in the design of the dwarves so that is also good i think
