so many iconic roles he has played in his long career so far

Pablo Picasso, Sigmund Freud, Alfred Hitchcock, Pope Benedict XVI and of course best known as Dr Hannibal Lecter

also his surprising acting performance in Transformers: The Last Knight, a role he surprisingly also executedly phenomenally well and enhanced the whole film to another level with his character

also alongside Brad Pitt in Legends of the Fall, as well as alongside Antonio Banderas in Mask of Zorro

in the worldfamous war film A Bridge Too Far, also a stunning acting performance there from him

known to younger generations from his role in the series Westworld

i like him in the MCU as well, as Odin in Thor: Ragnarok

:flutter:

he is a legend and he deffo deserves his appreciation thread on this forum tbh

Part of me thinks he’s one of those actors who just basically ‘plays’ himself each movie . .. kinda like Michael Caine

Although I’ll admit I haven’t seen too many of his movies

A more recent role (2020) as well The Father where he plays a man suffering with Alzheimers, what a brilliantly heartbreaking performance

or Solace (2015), with that murder investigation where he plays that psychic doctor Dr John Clancy

opposite to Colin Farrell, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan who portrays his friend, the FBI special agent Merriweather

Not sure I've ever seen that one, I might check it out, though, thanks

…The Father was definitely the most heartbreakingly mesmerising of all of his roles for me …and Hannibal Lecter…brilliant……

I actually, seemingly in a minority liked him in Meet Joe Black.

I love the music in that too.

I've a Cousin who no matter how I explain that film to her, she just never can understand it.

Hmm maybe :joker:

I do though love the background music in that film.
It was beautifully scored.

…I actually haven’t watched it for a long time and can’t recall the soundtrack score so I think that I’m going to revisit it at some point soon tbh…(…then I’ll ask you to explain it to me…..)…

I voted like. I like him more for his performances in stuff like Nixon or The Elephant Man than I do for his Hannibal. He does a particularly great Nixon.
