He needs to take all three from the island to his ranch.
But his canoe can only manage one at a time.
Meaning that during one of his trips, either the fox will be left alone with the hen, or the hen will be left with the seed.
How can he successfully move all of the items, without anything getting eaten?

hen first, back for the fox, then take the hen back, bring the seed over and finally back for the hen again

Yes they are , it was only in terms of completing the task
But if you think about it the farmer wouldn’t want a fox hanging around his Farm in reality

You could always lay the bag of seed on top of the hen to shut it up and stop it flapping about like a nutter. **** the fox, if it wants to come it can bloody swim. Twat didnt even help me and chicken carry the canoe up to the river.

Not in this version but it was farmer in the riddle I heard year’s ago
