View Full Version : Experiences with E Bay? Good, bad or indifferent?

So I've used E Bay for a long time and I've never once had an issue, which is really good but thos time I'm very disappointed.
Tbf I've pinpointed it's the courier who is to blame rather than E Bay themselves or the seller.
I ordered a pair of boots, an absolute bargain at 10 pounds. I received confirmation last Saturday that the courier, Yodel, had received them and they would be delivered last Tuesday. I'm still waiting and there are no tracking updates.
I'm waiting for the seller to contact me, as per E bay's procedure, and have also spoken to Yodel who are insisting they don't have the parcel, but I have official confirmation so figure that out??
E Bay offered me a refund, but I want the boots.
It's like they've disappeared off the face of the earth. I'm in limbo.
Anyone else experienced this type of thing?

Yes the confirmation is from Yodel, and the seller reviews are all very positive. 98.8%

I've given them the reference number. They couldn't find it. I spoke with them twice. I don't know what they are playing at.

No, it was nothing out of the ordinary. It was the same procedure as E bay.usually follows. It said Yodel on it, and that they'd received.my parcel on Saturday, last Saturday with an expected.delivery date of Tuesday. The tracking says running late, and that the courier hasn't supplied.a revised date? Not been updated since the Tuesday.

Hmm, I’d wait a few working days to see if they can track, if not then get the refund. Annoying but better to get your money back rather than being left in limbo.

Unfortunately yes I'll probably have to. Thing is I need/really want those boots lol. I'll have to find another similar pair. Annoying!

If it wasn’t meant to be it means there’s better boots out there waiting for you. ;)
Just read this as 'experiences with e?' at first and thought Kate was going off the deep end :worry:

Iv'e used it quite a bit Kate, must admit never had a problem,IF a seller is being awkward Ebay will always refund you if the seller doesn't .Can you get the boots anywhere else ? if not just keep onto the seller and tell them you will open a complaint with Ebay, and they might get moving,as usually sellers dont like bad feedback,Good luck and hope you get those boots .

You need to contact the seller Kate, its their responsibility to follow up with the courier company
Never had an issue with Ebay, never had a seller use a courier company though its generally Royal Mail

I don’t think it’s the sellers error with this, sounds like Yodel as they sent her confirmation they had the package.

If the seller is a faceless drop ship operation they can have 98.8% feedback and still rack up 200 negatives per month
How many negatives in the last month?

Oh right, missed that bit, Well surely the fault lies with Yodel, I hope it gets sorted.

Nothing terrible - a few things that have taken longer to arrive than expected but no outright scams. TBF I'd only really use eBay for small, more obscure things usually.
Though I did buy my PS5 on eBay back when it was impossible to buy one retail, people were scalping them for over £700 on eBay but I stumbled on one from a small (under 200 feedback) seller who said he was just a guy who bought on pre-order and hadn't had time to even set it up, and wanted to sell to a genuine buyer not another scalper. Was selling buy-it-now for £500 and I saw it just after it went up. I took the gamble and went for it and to be fair, I was a bit worried that it would be either a scam, or faulty... but it arrived in perfect condition and is going strong multiple years later, so I guess he was on the level :joker:. Either that or it was stolen and he was going for a quick sale lol. Though it was brand new still factory packaged in box so hopefully not.

Yodel, on the other hand, is awful. Slightly better than "Evri" (used to be Hermes) but still not great. Honestly a lot of these couriers are bad (because their drivers are over-stretched). It gets even worse in December.
i think yodel's business model is that people pick up parcels after they finish their normal day jobs and then do deliveries in their own private vehicle. So it's never as reliable as other couriers

One of my fav things that ever happened was that we had a large, heavy parcel that went to the wrong address - house it went to was proper dodgy, and they signed for it knowing full well it wasn't for them. Based on the size and weight of the box I bet they thought it was going to be something great. It was 20 one-litre bottles of high PH alkaline water :joker:. I like to imagine their face when they cut the box open :flutter:.

Not EBay related but I’ve ordered a new sim for my phone from EE on Wednesday and it still hasn’t turned up yet.
It says that Sim only orders should arrive in 2 days via Royal Mail but I’ve had no text updates, just an email saying that they’ve received my order. They’ve given me a reference number to track my order but it just says “Sorry you can’t track this order type just yet”.
Is it me being an impatient wally?

I had something delivered by Yodel at 9:50pm Friday night, and they didn't even knock, they just left it on the doorstep (as luck would have it i let a cat out just as they were walking off, otherwise the parcel would have probably stayed there until morning, if not stolen first).
So yeah, they are pretty useless. Keep an eye out for sure.

I did have a delivery from ebay that said it had been delivered, but it hadn't. I pursued it and they sent me a picture if where the courier had left it. Luckily I recognised the structure of my neighbour's firewood shelter next to his house about half a mile away. I walked down there and there was my parcel.

I’ve had that before with a delivery but they leave a note through the letter box saying sorry we missed you, you need to come collect it. I’ve been sat in the dining room wfh and I’m like you didn’t attempt to knock on the bloody door. :fist:

My friends son worked at the recycling centre during his holiday from uni, where the recycling bin waste is brought and he said the number of parcels that they received that couriers had left in people's bins that they don't realise are there before the bins are collected is ridiculous

I think I've mentioned this before on here but, a few years back they put my wife's brand new contract iPhone (so at the time worth well over £1000) in the blue bin... at the wrong house. Luckily, the owners were away on holiday and hadn't been using their bins.

Terrible. I've always had good service from Evri, but nobody is infallible. They should ensure it never happens again...

Yeah, Evri (previously Hermes) is the cheapest to use, but it shows. It's utter crap in my experience. If i buy anything on ebay from private sellers who use Evri now, i message them before paying asking if they could go through Royal Mail (which isn't exactly great these days, and much slower) instead and i'll pay a couple of extra quid.

He said they got loads of tech items in every day. ..its madness and such poor service really. Just lazy delivering. The amount of FB posts every day I see with people asking for info on places they received there tracking details for us unreal

…that’s the worst evil when you’ve waited in all day for an expected and promised delivery and there was no expected and promised delivery…no one called, no one text etc….then you see the note that was put through the door to say… sorry, you weren’t home…

I've left a mixed review. It's not Ebays fault, or the sellers, although the seller failed to respond to me querying why it was taking so long and advising them not to use Yodel in future. My review reflects this. I'm happy with the product, now that it's finally here, great quality at such a good price. It's a total mystery where on earth the parcel was for over a week between the courier receiving it from the seller and delivering it to me. Not what I'm used to with E bay at all. Hopefully a one off.
