A guest on The Jeremy Kyle Show said
the programme makers
“are responsible for what happens now”
in his final text message to his
former partner, an inquest has heard.
[Steve Dymond, from Portsmouth,
is believed to have killed himself
seven days after filming for the
ITV show in May 2019.
He had taken a lie detector test
for the programme after being accused of
cheating on Jane Callaghan, from Gosport,
who wiped her eyes with a tissue while
giving evidence to the inquest on Tuesday.]
This show was not played on TV
but in Court they will view clips of it.
SkyNewsHD reported today.

[ Metro reports that the son of a man
who is believed to have taken his own
life after appearing on the Jeremy Kyle Show
in 2019 has told an inquest that Mr Kyle
"threw him under the bus"
by egging the audience on to boo him.
Steve Dymond, 63, had gone on the
show to deny cheating on his ex-partner
but during the episode failed a
lie detector test.
Son Carl Woolley told the inquest
his father felt he had been
"made out to be a baddie”.]

Why anyone went on that Show was beyond me, I get the public finding the Show entertaining, but the people going on there were going on possibly the most vile Show that the UK has ever created.

I agree totally.
The whole format was unnecessary and Kyle himself was absolutely way out of order in my view.
I agree with every word you've said there Mock.

I can get the guilty pleasure perspective that a lot of people had with the Show tbf, which is more than I can say for some Shows.
But they clearly should've done some psyche evaluation tests on the people participating on the Show, to try and prevent situations like this from happening.

Actually there's been more than one death / suicide from the show .
As for " moving on" , alot of the guests on the show already were suffering from either mental illness & learning difficulties,so I don't imagine ...they had a easy life after appearing on TV .
Alot of them were coerced & manipulated into taking part, sure there was some who were just not very bright or who saw this as their bizarre 5 mins of fame....to get a free stay in a hotel , but some who went on Jeremy
Kyle show ... didn't have many inhibitions to start with.
Jeremy Kyle was a vicious arrogant man, all he ever did was look down on people.... like he was somehow better than them . He thought he was some slick comedian ...as he had the audience clapping , booing & laughing at his ques :notimpressed: ...cringe.

Yeah it turns out lie detectors are only like 65% accurate.... if that ! . And twat face Kyle always had the nerve to behave as if it was full proof 100% :bored: . Think of all the people who have told the truth ..and then told they're ' lying ', horrible way to resolve something.
Makes you wonder how accurate their so called 'DNA tests' are aswell , obviously those are harder to fake...but who knows with them,as the whole production team is utter sleaze ,and all they cared about was ratings. I wouldn't have trusted anything they say , I'd rather get proper results from a doctor or even pay for them!.

The show was always there to exploit these sort of people…but the other side of the coin was that these people got paid to go on there…a free night in a hotel…to many it was an opportunity.
Sadly this man had attempted suicide prior to the show…so why are his family putting him through that……they have to take some responsibility.
On the other hand you would have thought the production team would look into this kind of stuff before allowing them on the show.
However…Jeremy Kyle is a knob and the show gave the little turd an opportunity to be a ‘big man’..
All very sad..
i don't think lie detectors are used in any court cases across the world these days because they have been found to be completely inaccurate
They have all sorts of biometric tests that they can do, but i don't even think they are used as proof one way or another

Of course they did wrong. It's morally disgraceful.
At least on other reality shows people can "profit" from their appearances afterwards in some form. On these you go on at your own risk. It's not worth it. Fame is never worth it, tbh.

You must be joking, it was awful exploitation & trash ....and it got rapidly worse as it dragged on year after year. It became more about Kyle being in love with himself and showing off, and less about helping people.
And he got more nasty and he loved sticking the knife in ,whilst also trying to force cringe banter with his 10 ft tall hulk security guard...who just stood and said " no Mr Kyle " & " yes Mr Kyle" " 3 bags full Mr Kyle" , embarrassing.

It was gross exploitation but that sort of "poverty porn" was all the rage back in the 2000's, there were countless shows and "documentaries" trying to make a few £ the same way. It all belongs in the trash regardless.
It was clearly based on the Jerry Springer model but that was at least more tongue-in-cheek and clearly 75% staged. Kyle's show frankly relied on the "guests" often being too naive/not clever enough to realise what they were getting themselves into.

Yeah the show was a product of its time and the guests were also a product of societal problems that go way beyond the Jeremy Kyle show. By its nature a lot of the people on there had major problems with addictions and mental health issues so it's difficult to attribute a death directly to the program.
For all it's faults there were some people genuinely helped by the show too

Looking back on some of the old clips on TikTok etc it wasn't even to that much of a lesser extent - The X Factor was awful for it in hindsight, they were flat-out gaslighting some of them with producers acting like they were good/had a chance just for them to go in and be openly laughed at and torn to bits by Cowell and co... shocking really.
Even arr Big Brother has some questionable elements through the years. People being chosen who cannot possibly have passed a robust psych exam (as they always claim) with the clear specific intent being for them to be mocked for entertainment.

There we are. :smug: I watchd a pretty fun but not especially enlightening takedown of The Jeremy Kyle Show on YouTube yesterday. Worth a viewing for those who want to hate-watch the scummy, self-righteous hypocrite. To my mind, if it helped anyone, it was only through inadvertently and unintentionally drawing attention to the plight of those who were struggling, much in the same way that the Whitechapel murders drew attention to the poverty of the East End.

"Many people benefitted from the aftercare service provided by The Jeremy Kyle Show and there were also many who benefitted and didn’t appear on the show," Graham said in a statement.
"The service had a positive impact on many people's lives and, in some cases, those whose needs are often unheard and ignored within our society were acknowledged and heard by the aftercare team."
Graham added that the services provided to participants helped "challenge homophobia, transphobia and racism and it provided a platform to brave survivors of domestic abuse, trauma and childhood trauma because they wanted to raise public awareness and ultimately help others".
