…so totally horrendously sad for the parents of the children who lost their lives…just heart rendering…it’s said that he’ll be tried as an adult but if that’s how it is then does that mean that the parent/carers won’t be looked at in terms of did they have any responsibilities in this…I know there were cases recently in the USA were parents also faced legal responsibility ….the gun laws are just so wrong but they are what they are and we don’t live in that world so it’s very difficult for us to make any understanding of it all…I saw another story yesterday…I think it was Utah…an 8year old child was left in a car while mom made a dash into a supermarket or store…she also left her child with a loaded gun under the car seat …kept there for protection, who knows…?…the 8yr old shot and killed himself while she was in the store…just all so wrong…

It will never change. Like you say, Americans love their guns. I'm married to a Texan, his whole family owns guns and shoot regularly. I don't have a problem with it because they are trained, they're taught gun safety as kids and the adults' guns are under lock and key. The same kind of thing happens here only with knives. It really doesn't - gang crime yes, but if there was a multiple-killing of any kind in a UK school it would be major national news. There have only been a handful of "mass stabbings" in the UK in the last 5 years - and none of them were in schools.

There have been at least 4 school shootings with multiple deaths in the US in 2024 so far - and several more incidents where the shooter was stopped before managing to hurt anyone.

The father of the teen suspected in the Georgia school shooting has been arrested, the Georgia bureau of investigation has said.

Colin Gray, 54, was arrested by the bureau in connection to the shooting at Apalachee high school. Colin is the father of Colt Gray, the 14-year-old who is suspected of fatally shooting two students and two teachers with an assault-style rifle at the high school on Wednesday.

He is charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second degree murder and eight counts of cruelty to children, the Georgia bureau said.

“His charges are directly connected with the actions of his son and allowing him to possess a weapon,” Chris Hosey, director of the Georgia bureau of investigations, told reporters on Thursday evening.
