John Lewis 'allows trans women into bra-fitting rooms' as retailer hit by
furious gender row

The high street giant – famed for its Christmas ads and 'Never Knowingly
Undersold' catchphrase – is accused of putting female staff and customers at
risk in order to 'demonstrate their 'woke' credentials to a minority of the
population'
The retail group is facing claims its inclusive transgender policies – claimed to
have been unilaterally imposed on staff – are "dangerous" and relegate
women to "second class employees".
Critics say the retailer gives men claiming trans identities open access to
women’s changing rooms and toilets both for staff and customers, even
allowing men into "bra fitting" areas. It is also claimed that male employees
choosing to dress as women at work are allowed access to female locker
rooms and toilets.
Female colleagues live in fear of dismissal if they speak out.
Women concerned about sharing intimate spaces with biological males are
"dismissively" told they can use disabled toilets instead.
Mary Howden, of the Women’s Rights Network Scotland, said even "bra
fitting" areas in John Lewis’s Edinburgh and Glasgow branches were open to
men. She said: "As part of a mystery shopper exercise John Lewis in Glasgow
and Edinburgh were visited. We spoke to staff in changing rooms in both the
female and male clothing floors and were told by them that they had no
choice but to make the fitting rooms mixed sex as it was now required by
law. Staff seemed unfamiliar with the Equality Act 2010 and its ability to
allow single sex exemptions."
Ms Howden added: "We also visited the bra fitting areas in both stores and,
again, this was open to being used by men and women. Both stores were...
misleading in their signage. They clearly sell male and female clothing on
separate floors but do not indicate that the changing rooms are mixed sex.
A spokesman for John Lewis said: "female employees may be expected to
use disabled toilets if they objected to sharing intimate spaces with males"
