The 90s were good for Dance Music but overall tragic

I like music from all decades really.
Less so of the more recent stuff

However I've chosen as real favourites 2 decades I wasn't even born in.
I'd have loved to been around in them though especially for the music

I've read before that technically its the 70's because there are more albums that are considered classics from that decade than any other. There were also great artists who made their name like David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Bob marrley, Steely Dan whos best works are from the 70',

I think all decades are good but the 90's are underrated cuz not only did dance music become mainstream but Rock had artists like The Smashing Pumpkins and not just Nirvana/Oasis etc who made classic albums' from that era

80's, 90's early 00's. Although discovering Synthwave 8 ish years ago (which is massively inspired by 80's music, and originated in late 00's, has been growing in popularity since Stranger Things) literally changed my life.

I guess the noughties tried with Garage/RnB early on. The 10’s didn’t even bother to show up. Just real generic and flat.

Hip hop too tried to be cutting edge but that too is now too formulaic.

20’s is trying to be something too (again more than the 10’s) with afrobeats and some pop making it back but still nothing massively defining so far.

I think I’d rate 20’s over the 10’s.

Not into modern Hip Hop really, but i love BigXthaPlug. Someone i was watching on Twitch had his song "Texas" play so i looked into some of his other stuff and it's pretty decent. I liked some of Mac Miller's stuff too. I've heard decent modern rap songs, but not enough to seek out the artists really.

Hip hop lost it when mumble rap came along and all rappers started to sound the same and have the same flow. SOme would say thats always been the case but Snoop sums it up much better and funnier than I ever could. :laugh:

Out of all the choices I would choose the 90s seeing as I listen to a lot of music from that decade. I like all in the poll for various reasons.

60 & 70s - A lot of the music I listen to is inspired or has been sampled from a lot of 60s and 70s records. I love listening to these records and just learning the history and discovering all these artists who were such an inspiration to my favourite artists/ producers that listen to now.

80s - I think GTA Vice City was what originally got me into 80s music. A lot of classic pop songs from this era but it was also the beginnings of Hip Hop and House music, 2 genres that I love with a passion.

90s - There’s so many genres I listen to from this decade. House, Hip Hop, Jungle, Alternative Rock, Garage etc. It was such a progressive decade in terms of technology and you can see so much of a difference in style between the first and latter half of the decade. A lot of records with samples which some people still think is plagiarism (which I can kinda understand) but it’s helped me discover all these artists from previous years that were so talented and inspiring. My samples thread pretty much sums this up.

00s - This is a decade that I grew up on so it’s very nostalgic for me to listen to records from this time period. More and more genres were developing, garage eventually moving more towards Grime, Drum and Bass becoming more prominent, R&B being pretty strong as well plus a lot of the indie rock bands and Rap Rock bands that came during this era as well (Linkin Park, Blink 182 etc).

I forgot about Drum an Bass. Another reason why the 90's was a better decade for music than some would tell you.

I like songs from every decade (even the 2020's) but the 70's-00's were strong consecutive decades for Music imo.

I mean the 00's is kind of underrated on the poll imo as it had:

- Loads of big Muse classics
- Hybrid Theory
- Some big Coldplay and Snow Patrol hits
- Sex On Fire
- Crazy Frog
- Some big Eminem hits such as The Real Slim Shady, Stan, The Way I Am, Without Me, Lose Yourself, Sing For The Moment, Like Toy Soldiers, and Mockingbird
- The Streets Dry Your Eyes Mate
- The Ketchup Song
- Fallen Album by Evanescence
- American Idiot
- Akon's Lonely song
- Controversial to probably say this, but R Kelly's Ignition song will always remind me of my childhood as I used to try and hit the notes in the song all of the time as a kid.:laugh:
