[The Ministry of Justice is keen to distance
this policy from the Home Office's housing
of migrants in hotels,
which costs the taxpayer millions of
pounds a day. Instead,
this policy is intended to be used as
a last resort - and may not be needed at all.]

Is it for the homeless ones who are being released? Or is it an alternative to prison?

We have issues with space as well, but Catch and Release is done at the jail level. Those people can be held for extended periods of time waiting for trial. We did tons of Catch and Release also during COVID. People had to have at least 6 citations before a bench warrant could be issued to keep the jails clear. There's LEO shortages across the country, so no one to pick people up... or keep them in...

Nobody wants to live next to a prison or a new power plant, even if they're desperately needed, so it's hard to get those needed facilities built. I can only imagine in a more densely populated area how much more difficult that would be. We finally got the dog shelter upgraded, which we did need as the population here (people) has exploded, but that's much easier to get public support for...

i said way back just after the election that labour would process all the illegals, get them contributing into the economy and then stick prisoners in the barges and hotels. It's exactly whats happening

Illegals and lags warm in hotels. Homeless, some of whom are ex-service personnel and almost all of whom are there through no fault of their own? ******* 'em.
