View Full Version : Black Mirror Season 7 (Out now - Netflix)

We’re still not done untangling our thoughts and feelings about the sixth season of Black Mirror, yet Charlie Brooker’s dark, satirical anthology series is deep in production on six new episodes for Season 7, which will stream on Netflix in 2025. As part of Geeked Week, Netflix’s epic annual festival celebrating all things fandom, the lead cast of the upcoming season has been revealed, along with clues from Brooker himself as he took the stage at the live event in Atlanta on Sept. 19.

“You can expect a mix of genres and styles,” Brooker told the amped-up audiences of Geeked Week. “We've got six episodes this time, and two of them are basically feature-length. Some of them are deeply unpleasant, some are quite funny, and some are emotional.”

Later, backstage at the event, Brooker told Tudum that the new season was “a little bit OG Black Mirror.” He added, “It’s back to basics in many ways. They’re all sci-fi stories, but there’s definitely some horrifying things that occur, but maybe not in an overt horror-movie way. There’s definitely some disturbing content in it.”

Brooker and the Black Mirror creative team aren’t giving away any specific spoilers, but they are teasing one major nugget of information: One of the episodes will be a sequel to the now-classic Season 4 opener, “USS Callister.”

“Fans of the show will recognize the cast of a certain spaceship from one of our episodes reappearing,” Brooker said on stage. “We’ve done a sequel for the first time in Black Mirror history. Normally, I kill off all the characters at the end of an episode, and I kept some of ’em alive. I’m growing as a human.”

The high-profile Season 4 episode centered on Robert Daly, a brilliant but troubled programmer who co-created a popular online video game. Unhappy with a perceived lack of recognition at his gaming company, Robert then creates a simulated reality within the game, giving himself the role of a Captain Kirk–like figure aboard a starship and leading an adoring crew — based on his real-life co-workers — on zany sci-fi adventures. Of course, because this is Black Mirror, things take an unexpected and sinister turn.

Aside from the tease about the sequel to the USS Callister episode, Netflix has announced the lead cast members –– listed below alphabetically –– of Black Mirror Season 7 via a cryptic “data drop” asset.

“We’ve got an embarrassingly stacked cast,” said Brooker.

Awkwafina (Jackpot!)
Milanka Brooks (Mum And I Don’t Talk Anymore)
Peter Capaldi (Criminal Record)
Emma Corrin (Deadpool & Wolverine)
Patsy Ferran (Firebrand)
Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers)
Lewis Gribben (Blade Runner 2099)
Osy Ikhile (Citadel)
Rashida Jones (Sunny)
Siena Kelly (Domino Day)
Billy Magnussen (Road House)
Rosy McEwen (Blue Jean)
Cristin Milioti (The Penguin)
Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids)
Issa Rae (Barbie)
Paul G. Raymond (Horrible Histories)
Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish)
Jimmi Simpson (Westworld)
Harriet Walter (Succession)

Yeah. Every episode is a different story/cast. I’d highly recommend watching seasons 3 (6 episodes)though first to get you in the mood, and season 4 episode 1 as this one is important to season 7.

Also White Christmas episode is worth watching.

…I was able to get links to watch Murder House, Asylum, Coven and Freak Show…I think that was all unless I’ve forgotten one…I did feel as though the storylines were becoming a bit ‘depraved’ and less substance, though…more out to shock and sensationalise…

…ooooo, that’s intriguing with the follow up but I guess that it was left open to it…some of those storylines are so scary in terms of how they relate to so much of the real world mindsets atm…they really don’t feel that far removed, which is a terrifying thought…

….season 4/episode 3 I think it was…Crocodile….

…I was trying to fathom why she killed the baby…it’s not as if she wanted to kill and was drawn to killing…but I guess it’s because the memory jolting machine could have been used on the baby as well and it be played what they had seen…that whole episode was probably the darkest and most upsetting to date, so many deaths and lives destroyed…

IMO the only watchable one I saw after Coven was "Apocalypse" and that was more because it was so weird/surreal, rather than "good".

….hmmm, let me think…I feel a bit frazzled and dazed in binge watching them back to back but I liked The National Anthem from season 1, that was so screwed up…season 2/White Christmas was very good…Nosedive and Shut Up and Dance and Hated in the Nation from season 3 were all worthy contenders…USS Callister and Black Museum from season 4…plus Crocodile ….Smithereens was probably my favourite from season 5 …season 6 - Joan is Awful, Beyond the Sea, Mazey Day and Demon 79 were all good watches…

…it is a series though that downs your mood and vibe when you watch back to back and absorb so many dark stories in such a short time…I found, anyway…there should be an episode on that…

….it’s the one with Andrew Scott…(…one of my favourite actors anyway so that’s a good start to the plot…:laugh…)….

…its about the dangers/addictions of social media apps and he’s a taxi driver who waits to kidnap an employee of the company so that he can get to talk to the CEO and tell him his story before he kills himself…and the part that he feels this app has played in his story……

E1

I found it a bit upsetting like it's something I could imagine happening especially in the states with their health care set up. Ugh I mean it was good and dystopian but it made me feel unsettled

Ep 2

I enjoyed this one more in an entertainment way but I was rooting for Verity as a bully victim so was kind of annoyed the bully won in the end bah

…yeah those are the only two I’ve watched so far and pretty much agree with your thoughts…

….the first one was obviously so predictable from the off that he was going to go down the route of that dark web site for money and the whole thing for me was just unsettling also in so many ways…she was his world/the love of his life etc but then he really needed so much for her existence to end because there was nothing of any quality left for either of them and never would be…
