I have Mod permission and politely ask that it's honoured as such and is only for a celebration of his life through music and posts of condolence.

One Direction

Liam Payne's former One Direction bandmates say they are "completely devastated" about the passing of their fellow band member.

In a statement signed by Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Harry Styles they said: "In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say".

The pop star, who found fame on The X Factor in 2010, died after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Argentina, police say.

Earlier Payne's family said they were "heartbroken" as they paid tribute to a "kind, funny and brave soul", after his death aged 31.

"We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time," they said.

Liam was one of five members of One Direction.

The band's statement added: "We will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly." and concluded: "We will miss him terribly. We love you, Liam."

Harry Styles, former One Direction band member shared a photo of Liam on Instagram, saying that he "lived wide open, with his heart on his sleeve".

"The years we spent together will forever remain among the most cherished of my life.

"I will miss him always, my lovely friend".

Fellow member Louis Tomlinson also shared a separate tribute on his personal Instagram account, thanking Payne for being "the kind brother I’d longed all my life for."

"Reminiscing about all the thousands of amazing memories we had together is a luxury I thought I’d have with you for life," he wrote.

He added he would also support Liam's son.

"I want you to know that if Bear ever needs me I will be the Uncle he needs in his life and tell him stories of how amazing his dad was."

Zayn Malik, who left the band in 2015, also shared a tribute on Instagram alongside a younger photo of him and Payne asleep in a car: "I lost a brother when you left us and can't explain to you what I'd give to just give you a hug one last time".

I'm absolutely devastated about the passing of my amazing friend, Liam. It just doesn't feel real.

Liam had an energy for life and a passion for work that was infectious. He was the brightest in every room and always made everyone feel happy and secure.

All the laughs we had over the years, sometimes about the simplest of things, keep coming to mind through the sadness. We got to live out our wildest dreams together and I will cherish every moment we had forever. The bond and friendship we had doesn't happen often in a litetime.

I feel so fortunate that I got to see him recently. I sadly didn't know that after saying goodbye and hugging him that evening, I would be saying goodbye forever. It's heartbreaking.

My love and condolences go out to Geoff, Karen, Ruth, Nicola and of course his son Bear.

Zayn Malik

Another one of Payne's former bandmates has posted a tribute, with Zayn Malik saying on Instagram that he is "beyond devastated".

"I lost a brother when you left us and can't explain to you what I'd give to just give you a hug one last time and say goodbye to you properly," Malik says in a post alongside a picture of him and Payne, taken when the two were younger.

"Liam, I have found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you can hear me," Malik says, reminiscing on their time together as teenagers. He says Payne was always the "more sensible" one and "the most qualified" musically.

"I will cherish all the memories I have with you in my heart forever," he adds. "Love you bro."

Louis Tomlinson

Payne's One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson has also posted an individual tribute on his Instagram page, saying that he has "lost a brother".

"I first met Liam when he was 16 and I was 18. I was instantly amazed by his voice but more importantly as time went on I got a chance to see the kind brother I'd longed all my life for," he writes on the social media site.

For the record, he says, "Liam was in my opinion the most vital part of One Direction. His experience from a young age, his perfect pitch, his stage presence, his gift for writing. The list goes on. Thank you for shaping us Liam."

He goes on to say that if Payne's son Bear - who he shared with Girls Aloud star Cheryl Tweedy - "ever needs me I will be the uncle he needs in his life".

Harry Styles

"I am truly devastated by Liam's passing," Styles, 30, shared in an Instagram statement about his former One Direction bandmate. "His greatest joy was making other people happy, and it was an honour to be alongside him as he did it."

"Liam lived wide open, with his heart on his sleeve, he had an energy for life that was infectious," the singer continued. "He was warm, supportive, and incredibly loving. The years we spent together will forever remain among the most cherished years of my life. I will miss him always, my lovely friend."

Styles concluded his statement: "My heart breaks for Karen, Geoff, Nicola and Ruth, his son Bear, and all those around the world who knew and loved him, as I did."

Cheryl Cole

The Girls Aloud singer was in a relationship with the former One Direction star between 2016 and 2018. The pair welcomed a son, Bear, in 2017.

Alongside a black-and-white photo of Liam in bed with their son, who was just a baby at the time, Cheryl said: "As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I'd like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being. Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7 year old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.

"What is troubling my spirit the most is that one day Bear will have access to the abhorrent reports and media exploitation we have seen in the past few days. It is breaking my heart further that I cannot protect him from that in the future. I am begging you to consider what use some of these reports are serving, other than to cause further harm to everyone left behind picking up the pieces. Before you leave comments or make videos, ask yourself if you would like your own child or family to read them."

Cheryl concluded: "Please give Liam the little dignity he has left in the wake of his death to rest in some peace at last. Thank you, Cheryl."

He said: “You never really know how you feel about someone until a moment like this happens. Liam, I am devastated. Heartbroken. And I feel empty. And I want you to know how much love and respect I have for you. Every tear I have shed is a memory for you.

“This is so difficult to put into words right now. I went outside today and I thought about so many times we had together. I wanted to let you know what I would always say to the thousands of people who would always ask me. What is Liam like?

“And I would tell them you were kind, funny, sweet, thoughtful, talented, humble, focused. And how much you loved music. And how much love you genuinely had for the fans.”

Payne visited Cowell last year to “sit and talk,” and Cowell said he was reminded that Payne was “still the sweet, kind boy I met all of those years ago.” He noted that Payne’s son, Bear, has his smile and “that twinkle in his eyes” that Payne had: “He will be so proud of everything you achieved and how you achieved it.”

LONDON — Liam Payne's family paid tribute to the pop star after his deadly fall Wednesday from a hotel balcony in Argentina.

"We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul," the Payne family said in a short statement to the London-based Press Association news agency. Former chat show host James posted on Instagram about Liam, writing: "Talking about Liam in the past tense is utterly heartbreaking. He was such a loving and kind soul. I will treasure the moments I got to spend with him. My thoughts are with his family today x." Liam had appeared on The Late Late Show as a guest with Corden in 2020, and also took part in his Carpool Karaoke segment.

Hours after the former One Direction member's death at age 31 on Oct. 16, Ora performed a concert in Osaka, Japan, and emotionally broke down as she performed their 2018 duet "For You" from Fifty Shades Freed.

During the solo performance of their collaboration, per footage shared to social media by fans, the 33-year-old British pop star featured a photo of herself with Payne on the screen behind her and struggled to make it through the song.

He says he felt, and continues to feel, “shock, sadness and confusion” at Payne’s death, and recalled meeting him and his bandmates. “They were all cheeky and lovely. I enjoyed the lighthearted pisstakery and thought about all the times I was that cheeky pisstaker with the pop stars that had gone before me when I was in Take That. Our paths have crossed ever since that day and I’m fond of them all. Liam’s trials and tribulations were very similar to mine, so it made sense to reach out and offer what I could. So I did.”

Drug paraphernalia was discovered in Payne’s hotel room, and he had previously been open about struggles with alcohol and drug use. Williams draws on his own history of addiction during his tribute.

“I still had my demons at 31,” he wrote – Payne’s age when he died. “I relapsed. I was in pain. I was in pain because I relapsed. I relapsed because of a multitude of painful reasons. I remember Heath Ledger passing and thinking ‘I’m next’. By the grace of God and/or dumb luck I’m still here.”

He called for more kindness and empathy from the public towards famous figures who might be experiencing difficulties in their personal lives, saying: “Even famous strangers need your compassion.”

He added, in block capitals: “We don’t know what’s going on in people’s lives. What pain they’re going through and what makes them behave in the way that they behave. Before we reach to judgment, a bit of slack needs to be given. Before you type anything on the internet, have a think: ‘Do I really need to publish this?’ Because that’s what you’re doing. You’re publishing your thoughts for anybody to read. Even if you don’t really think that celebrities or their families exist. They ****ing do. Skin and bone and immensely sensitive.”

A coroner’s report found that Payne died of multiple injuries from the fall from the third-floor balcony, and that he was alone at the time of his death.

As well as an outpouring of grief from his global fanbase, his former bandmates wrote individual tributes, as well as a joint statement saying in part: “The memories we shared with him will be treasured for ever”.

Singer Olly Murs, who starred on The X Factor a year before One Direction, said he was “lost for words” at the death of Liam Payne as he shared concerns for Liam's son Bear.

“We always had a good laugh when we saw each other, sometimes the catch ups were only short and sweet but when we did it was mostly about how annoyingly good his hair always looked, or our love for Becks, the old XF (X Factor) days and the tour we shared together,” Murs wrote beside a picture of the pair.

Hundreds of girls were screaming his name before the kick off .. then he got an early touch of the ball - they all screamed and then he got clattered by an ugly ( presumably jealous) ex footballer and was carried off the pitch badly injured !

As people who are close to me on here probably know, he reminded me immensely of.my estranged son. The grief is intertwined. I still listen to his music regularly. My heart has a chip in it.
