The youngsters at work are always saying that, annoys the sh!t out of me. And the irony is, they take the pi55 out of me for how I talk. You couldn't make it up.

No but it comes from AAVE (black Americans) and has existed for over 40 years but only now people of different demographics have adopted the term and made it more current slang all over.

Other words this happened with; Bruh, fam, no cap, bussin and so many more

Yeah, for a long time it was LGBTQ people who were adopting a lot of AAVE terms but because of the Internet Gen Alpha are picking up a whole lot of vernacular, especially from the US.

There's a lot of "trickle-up" slang tbh.

She is too old to use this type of stuff

Saying things that, for example, black Americans say, is for 16-24 year olds only as they try and impress other kids until they find a partner and reproduce

she is past it

It was used in films like Paris is burning. Way before people had the internet.

Bwahaha consider it our final revenge for Harry & Megan...

That mind virus hasn't made its way here locally, thank God, but I have heard it on shows like Project Runway, etc. That would've been my guess, honestly. I will poll my inlaws, they travel all over. One is a tour guide abroad, including throughout the UK, so they might have heard it elsewhere...
