Liam Neeson to star in reboot of The Naked Gun

Liam Neeson, along with Pamela Anderson, us to star in a reboot of The Naked Gun.

I'm quite looking forward to this. Like both Liam and Pamela. Sounds good.....

The script was penned by Dan Gregor, Doug Mand and Schaffer, the trio behind the live-action film Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, which won an Emmy for outstanding television movie at the creative arts Emmy's this Sunday in 2022.

Akiva Schaffer, who co-wrote the draft screenplay with Gregor and Mand, will serve as the director and executive producer.

So far, little is known about the story for the reboot, but it's likely the famed team of writers will cleverly incorporate the 'very particular set of skills' Neeson has acquired while playing his action hero persona of recent years, including Bryan Mills in the Taken (2008-2014) franchise

Pamela Anderson has responded to Liam Neeson's praising of her explaining why he is 'the perfect gentleman' to work with.

Earlier this year, the legendary actors got together for the filming of a reboot of classic cop comedy The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! - the 1988 original starring Leslie Nielsen.

And it didn't take long for Love Actually star Neeson to speak out singing Anderson's praises about just how 'terrific' she is to work with.

[Liam Neeson is brilliant at playing the tough guy,
but now he's eyeing up a role as a
tough guy who's also really funny.
Deadline reports that the Northern Irish actor
is in talks to star in a Naked Gun reboot movie.

He would take over from the late
Leslie Nielsen,
who starred in three Naked Gun movies
that came out between 1988 and 1994.
Nielsen had originated his
Naked Gun character,
bumbling but fundamentally lovable
cop Frank Drebin,
in the 1982 TV series Police Squad!.

The Naked Gun movies were popular spoofs
sending up the tropes of the crime genre,
so it makes sense that funnyman
Seth MacFarlane is one of the producers
behind the reboot. Akiva Schaffer, a member
of comedy group The Lonely Island,
is on board as director.

Neeson wouldn't be playing Frank Debin,
but the son of Nielsen's much-loved character,
which seems like a classy way to
continue the franchise.
Nielsen passed away in 2010 at age 84.]
