Realistically has any child sung this at all since about 1993.

Robots, drones and accountants. Like our current wars. I would think.

Everyone on front lines in the recent past and currently will be very relieved to hear that.

Well it's not random conscripted children/young adults, is it, and realistically isn't going to be again. It's going to be tech and professional soldiers. If the argument is that there will be fewer people who want to become professional soldiers, or that they'll be less effective soldiers than previous generations, because they didn't sing certain children's songs... well, that's another debate but I can't see much of a strong argument behind it.

"That mission wouldn't have failed, goddamnitt, if only Jim had sung about drunken sailors instead of angry pirates!!"

Potentially engage brain before posting Mock - we're talking about primary school children and you don't want the old bill coming round to rifle through your hard drive.

The lyrics are woke mind virus nightmare!

What will we do with a drunken sailor?
What will we do with a drunken sailor?
What will we do with a drunken sailor?
Early in the morning!
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Early in the morning!
Shave his belly with a rusty razor
Shave his belly with a rusty razor
Shave his belly with a rusty razor
Early in the morning!
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Early in the morning!
Put him in a long boat till his sober
Put him in a long boat till his sober
Put him in a long boat till his sober
Early in the morning!
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Early in the morning!
Stick him in a scupper with a hosepipe bottom
Stick him in a scupper with a hosepipe bottom
Stick him in a scupper with a hosepipe bottom
Early in the morning!
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Early in the morning!
Put him in the bed with the captains daughter
Put him in the bed with the captains daughter
Put him in the bed with the captains daughter
Early in the morning!
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Early in the morning!
That's what we do with a drunken sailor
That's what we do with a drunken sailor

The fairly obvious fact that changing a children's song lyric from drunken sailor to angry pirates is not going to result in a generation of soft-soldiers who can't fight wars :joker:.

What's the harm in changing it to something more appropriate and relatable to kids? Using the word "ban" is an exaggeration too, obviously they just want to encourage the use of an alternative version, nobody is enforcing a full on ban of the words to a children's song.

But they sure are whinging about it being changed. And it would be funny.

Wasn't there a similar "incident" a few years ago with another kid's song?

You're such a literalist when it suits you.

I feel like I'm not being literal enough in response though.

What I'm saying is that no amount of "societal wokery" in the general population is going to make it more challenging to recruit and train effective military personnel. It just won't. Being asked to fight in morally ambiguous conflicts/conflicts with ambiguous goals might. But "generations of softies making soft soldiers" just is not a realistic outcome.

So it's only "a problem" in a conscription situation where there's a requirement for those who aren't signing up voluntarily to fight. And if that happens we're ****ed anyway.

Plus the actual issue will not be people being "too soft to fight", the problem will be lack of automatic adherence to authority. The wokies are actually quite violent/destructive at times.

It's a joke in general, not about Primary School kids.

I don't think that I should have to clarify that tbh.

One of the main reasons why I can't get into modern Japanese Anime series is the pro-Paedophilia that's in a lot of it.

But being serious, that would be a funny song tbf.

I've edited the post a little bit, just to make it more clear to people.

I would honestly have liked to believe that people could tell that my post was talking about a Dominatrix Susan Boyle was meant to be punishing adult men, not children.

I also would like to believe that everyone on here would know from my previous posts on here about how much I'm against Paedophilia and other abhorrent sexual acts such as Rape and Bestiality.

I get that the thread that I've picked was poorly timed tbf, I will concede on that.

But I feel like my intention was clear that I was having a joke about envisioning Susan Boyle in Leather being into BDSM punishing adults. So yeah it's admittedly still very dark, but it weren't intended to be about children at all as I haven't made Paedophile jokes since I left my teens.

I'm sorry for anyone that misunderstood my post though, as I do have a very odd sense of humour.
