Those who insist on being offended will continue to do so. I think she will get a lot of hate from social media..hopefully not too much as it's obvious no malice was meant

…in terms of votes and whether she could win…?….hmmmmm, not looking great from that perspective…

…(…I so hope …)…that she doesn’t get booed tomorrow but that would be an indicator on whether she could come back…?…

If this was early in the series then maybe, but a week before the final probs not

Ruined her chances there (not that she was gonna win anyway)

Sarah probably would not win…but sadly this will not bode well for her because people will just want to twist it into something racist…they were gloating especially Hanah…it was a play on words and she may live to regret it.

But she shot herself in the foot ,I don't know why she needed to mention word play. She knew the comment was about Hanah...but she was thinking about the vampire task for some reason ,but Hanah wasn't a vampire  oh dear .

Sounds a bit like she was trying to make Nathan laugh ,she said it was a joke for Nathan or something.

And all this after her killer come back to lily saying her bread was flat and she said not as flat as your arse

I mean, i hope so.. it’s all a bit ridiculous… the warning was a bit OTT.. i mean, correct me if i’m wrong but “stop the boats” surely ain’t even racist? It’s about stopping illegal immigration, no? It’s hella confusing

'stop the boats' is not a racist thing to say.

You are correct, it isn't.

I’d be more worried about her Mayoress title tbh. I think she’s put her fella (Mayor) in jeopardy too with this.

The town they’re mayor/mayoress of is five minutes from me and it’s quite a prestigious place, I doubt this’ll go down well at all. :skull:

But why? She wasn’t racist. And stop the boats was an actual slogan

Stop the Boats is a racially charged phrase regardless of what anyone says. Sarah didn’t meant her joke in a racist way I don’t believe but it was an extremely poor choice of phrase to try and joke around with.

Stop the Boats is not a racially charged phrase regardless of what anyone says.

See how easy it is to make a statement like that though? You thinking it is doesn't make it a fact. It's a subjective statement that different people will take in a different way based on their prejudices and predispositions.

In my view, taking it as racist is as bad as Dean taking 'Campenstein' (or whatever it was) as being 'homophobic'.

Hanah is a migrant
Stop the boats stop the immigrants

That’s the connection

Hanah thought Sarah was using it about her core group though which are POC.

It all means the same thing because the people coming in on the boats are not white

She made a joke.

It's like Ryan's VT all over again the way that some of the BB audience like to blow things out of proportion.

C'mon, we had moved on from snarky personal comments like that. I was simply demonstrating that the fact whether it was racist or not was subjective is based on the predisposition and prejudices of the hearer.

I would argue that her intent was not racist. I would argue that her intent is what matters.

I think automatically taking her joke as as racist is on par with Dean claiming homophobia for 'Campenstein'.

She had a terrible night overall, we didnt see her in the sabotage challenge, she dealt with Lily really badly and let her get under her skin, and then the gloaty thing......why did BB show that, I dont think they realised it was a play on words until she explained herself to Hanah, I thought it was gloat with a y on the end to begin with...I dont think she was malicious in her intent but at the same time it was a silly thing to say

No I don't think her intent was racist either ,I think she was just making a joke about politics . I actually had to rewatch it ,as I missed parts of the episode. I noticed it went over Emma's head at first ,then she was like " oh" .

It does feel like Sarah is always shown putting her foot in it ,or having to explain herself. Then there's gremlin Lily winding her up,Sarah looked genuinely annoyed . I really hope Lily doesn't get sympathy over the pancake comment :notimpressed: . You can tell Sarah is sick and
tired of her.

…it’s sad that she’s seemingly become the saboteur/her own self saboteur…through no intention or malice or even awareness..it wasn’t so much what she originally said or chanted, but how she explained it to be…but she only explained it because there was no intent in it …just a mess of words for Sarah, sadly…

I honestly wish she didn't explain it, plus if you have to explain a joke... usually that means it's going to go down like a lead balloon.

…that she did explain it, to me kind of doubles down and confirms that lack of intent or even awareness…I mean, she’s not going to say…oh by the way, that all might have slipped by unnoticed but when I (we…)…chanted that, there were undertones of racism as well…I say ‘we’ because was it not said by Nathan as well…

I agree
And I'm not sure if he said it ,but she definitely aimed it at him ...to join in when they did the vampire task.
She said it was a joke for Nathan's benefit, around political slogans.

I don't think she had ill intent either , I think Sarah has a way of putting her foot in it ... unfortunately.

Me too but to be fair you criticised me posting my opinion as fact and I did the same back because I found it hypocritical. But yes I don’t want to get into a personal debate.

I wasn’t talking about Sarah’s comment - I don’t believe it was racist either and absolutely agree that is subjective.

I was referring to the phrase Stop The Boats being used by the Tory Party being racially charged. It’s the reason why Sarah’s using it as a base for a joke was a stupid decision.

Definitely people are always looking for an opportunity to get their phone out and misrepresenting a situation
