The recommendation has been put to the Welsh government in a report
responding to its anti-racism action plan.
Wales is 94% white

There are calls for "dog-free areas" to be introduced in Wales as part of the Welsh government's anti-racism action plan.
The plan, which has now been extended to include environmental factors
such as climate change and rural affairs, was first launched in June 2022.
The Welsh government sought the views of stakeholders including Climate
Cymru BAME, which compiled the report.
The study by the climate action group was carried out with Welsh
government funding.
It includes contributions from minority ethnic people who live in the North
Wales region, students and professionals in the environmental sector.
Contributors to the study noted barriers including a lack of green spaces in
their local area.
One of the report's recommendations to the government is to create
allotments and "dog-free areas" in local green spaces.
Andrew RT Davies, leader of the Welsh Conservatives - the largest opposition
party in the Senedd - has called it "outdated virtue-signalling nonsense".
He said it is "completely out of touch with the needs of the people of Wales".
"Labour is stuck on yesterday's thinking, the kind that is being roundly
rejected globally," he added.
A Welsh government spokesperson said it is "committed to creating an anti-
racist nation by 2030".

Yeah but banning dogs won’t combat racism. The rough lads can still go there.
The story makes no sense and has been poorly explained by whichever useless journalist has reported it.

The thing is, I agree with dog-free areas. I just don’t get the correlation to how having more is helping combat racism, and nobody reporting it seems able to explain it.

Climate Cymru BAME consists of around 20 members made up of students and professionals who have interest in environmental preservation and protection, who work with North Wales Africa Society (NWAS), Sub Sahara Advisory Board (SSAP) and the Northwest Wales Climate Action Group.
A separate set of recommendations submitted by the NWAS also called for 'dog-free areas'.
It said that during one of its focus groups, 'one black African female stated that she feels unsafe with the presence of dogs'.
Others also kept 'seeing dog fouling on the floor', the report added.

So it has nothing to do with actually stopping racism. :joker:
It’s because somebody (who happened to be a black African) feels unsafe in the presence of dogs (like a lot of people). So they’ve decided to try and spin it as though they are helping reduce racism by calling for dog-free zones, rather than actually do anything to help reduce actual racism.

Yes. Lots of people of all backgrounds are afraid of dogs, like you say. It's pretty senseless. Stuff like this actually causes division..
