View Full Version : Jews and Gays should hide their identity in parts of Berlin

Jews and gay people should hide their identity in parts of Berlin with large Arab populations, the German capital’s police chief has warned.

“There are areas of the city, we need to be perfectly honest here, where I would advise people who wear a kippah or are openly gay to be more careful,” said Barbara Slowik.

“There are certain neighbourhoods where the majority of people of Arab origin live, who also have sympathies for terrorist groups,” she said, adding that they were often “openly hostile towards Jews”.

She told the Berliner Zeitung newspaper that “violent crimes against Jewish people are few and far between, but every act is one too many”.

A fortnight ago, a youth football team from Makkabi Berlin, a Jewish sports club, reported being “hunted down” by youths carrying sticks and knives after a match in an Arab neighbourhood of the city. The victims, aged 13 to 15, said they were spat at and insulted throughout the match.

Not the first time Jews and gays have had to try to hide their identity in Germany. Muslims have dragged Europe back toward the dark ages. If I'm called a racist for saying that, I guess the people calling me racist will not have to hide their identity for fear of a beating or death.

european intelligence services are very poor, none have the capabilities we have here. Given we are struggling and we have tighter borders than any of them, what do people really expect?

People expect not to have to appease a medieval religion eighty years after Jews and gays were gassed and starved to death in that same country.

consecutive european governments haven't given a crap about all that stuff. There was a significant change when the berlin wall came down, prior to that people were vigilant, after it came down, europe was open to anyone

Good.to know.

it was all across europe, western europe wanted all the eastern european population to have safe harbour against all the **** that was going down, so anyone was let in, i guess the same is true from the arab spring. Great intentions, with little thought to consequences. They have never really been able to get away from that mind set

Didn't Merkel open the flood gates as well, you reap what you sow, people come in with different cultures and values in massive numbers this is what you get, it doesn't help that you have Gays marching for Palestine as well, they must be laughing up their sleeves at that irony, don't mention it though as it makes you a racist, just take the battering if you are Jewish or Gay and be happy you are not called a racist

Meanwhile off to the west, you have some of the MAGA hat die-hards openly marching about Ohio with massive swastika flags.

Nothing to worry about there though eh. No issues at all with the Trump Right. Here to sort it all out and save us all :joker:

Merkel came from what was east germany, so she grew up in a suppressed society. I believe that is what shaped her open borders policy

Merkel was born in Hamburg.

Merkel was born in Hamburg in West Germany. Her family moved to East Germany when she was an infant. Merkel obtained a doctorate in quantum chemistry in 1986 and worked as a research scientist until 1989.[13] She then entered politics in the wake of the Revolutions of 1989, briefly serving as deputy spokeswoman for the first democratically elected government of East Germany led by Lothar de Maizičre. Following German reunification in 1990, Merkel was elected to the Bundestag for the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Well in that case, it's perfectly justified that she let in over a million migrants and now Jews and gays have to disguise themselves in Berlin.

I think you're right, sadly. There are parts of London I'd definitely not venture into wearing a Star of David. Little kids in Jewish schools have to have lockdown practice in preparation for attacks, they don't wear their school blazers in case they're singled out and it's gradually becoming more acceptable. People are getting used to the idea that Muslims hate Jews and uphold their right to turn that hate into action, making excuses for it and shrugging it off.

If its happening in the US it'll be happening in the UK in two years. That is fairly standard. I'm not saying it's any better or worse I'm simply saying it's the exact same thing and it's given a free pass because "what about" Islamic issues.

Which by the way (Oliver) is what whataboutery ACTUALLY is. Refusal to look right because what about the left. Or vice versa. Look both ways before you cross or you're going to get hit by a truck. No? Extremism is extremism. The "Jews and Gays" have no more allies in red hats than they do in the communities being discussed in this thread.

And Jewish people are going to find out at some point that they have a lot of allies of convenience currently because of what's seen as a Jewish/Muslim conflict (and they like Muslims less).

At some point there will come a stark reminder of the fkn obvious. They don't actually like Jews either.

Fair point.

Just to add my two cents to this whole discussion, we're constantly told in western media that we're becoming "progressive" and "inclusive" yet I would argue that I have seen more hatred and prejudice over the last five years than I remembered back in say 2010.

No body is giving the far right a free pass, where has that been said on this thread. I think most Jewish people are quite aware of who their allies are in the world, that is not the point here at all, the point is on our door step there are no go areas that were previously not an issue for Jews and Gays to visit, that is going backwards in Europe in anyones language, we dont need to wait to import anything from the USA I am afraid to say, you are telling Oliver to look both ways but you have your blinkers firmly on when it comes to the cultures we are importing, most of these people just want to get on with their lives but we cant ignore the elephant in the room that their cultures, beliefs and value are vastly different to those in the West and in the main they do not want to integrate and adopt western values, so we have to take that on the chin if we continue to welcome them into Europe, no point whining about it after the fact

i mean some muslims hate jewish people

but we've also seen jewish people committing violent hate crimes against muslims

not like jewish people are solely the victims here

there are bad people on both sides, but there are also good people on both sides of course

Nicky91

in amsterdam, it wasn't just antisemitic violence against jewish people, but also some of the Maccabi fans who were abusing taxi drivers, or other provocative behaviour against locals

so what happened in amsterdam was just very sad and very embarrassing for us dutch towards the rest of the world

the amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema does not discriminate against either side, she wants to keep her city as very multicultural, diverse and trying to listen to everyone regardless of ethnicity, nationality or religion

Nicky91

also in our precious Sittard, also a very multicultural city nowadays, lots of peace and harmony here, compared to the bigger cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam

I don't, as is often the case I'd challenge you to find even one post suggesting that this is the case (oddly this never happens?) and I for the mostpart agree with the rest of what has been said there -- only with the caveat that I think these reasonable points are all too often used disingenuously by people who don't actually have rational concerns, but banal tribalist prejudice.

no idea who they voted for or why Don't be daft.

but that is somehow a counter argument for this?

It's not a counter-argument for anything as I'm not arguing against the original premise, I'm pointing out the hypocrisy as a comment that people SHOULD be concerned about this stuff as well, not to say that people shouldn't be worried about other things. There's undeniably huge issues with racism, homophobia and misogyny in immigrant communities. I just would like people to stop ignoring that there are huge problems with all of the same things coming from many other sources -- including the places they keep hooting about and celebrating.
