there will be a vote to oust him which will throw him out of parliament. Byelections throw up all sorts of interesting choices

He is still the Independent MP

A 10 week custodial isn't enough to throw him out as an MP.

He should go if he had any decency.

However if a complaint is upheld then a recall put in place.
That's the only way he could be forced to stand down or seek re- election in a by-election.

It is needed in my view for a system where for crimes particularly violent ones at least.
MPs can be automatically dismissed as MPs.

Seems a bit harsh to be honest.

He beat the crap out of a constituent he was supposed to be representing, i don't think it's harsh at all and it will more than likely be an open prison

The Labour Party
want a Bi-Election, reported on LBC

Of course they can not,
while he is still standing

First offence
Early guilty plea

Community service would have sufficed.

Yes, they came 2nd.

Labour Hope Reform UK and Conservatives
split the Vote, then let their already-picked
candidate, win.

Incredible and I'd say wrong to change the original sentence.
However NOT unexpected.

There's other conditions been put in place that he has to comply with too.

How though, he remains an MP in the constituency where he assaulted a CONSTITUENT is really sad to see.

Yes he remains the Independent MP
unless the locals call a recall

Unbelievable, hope the guy he assaulted pursues a civil action and sues him for a hefty sum

Lucky for him he just punched someone to the ground then kept hitting them. If he'd said hurty words he'd be in prison now.
