So many airports that could do with another runway ....
Luton, Birmingham, Manchester.....slap in the face for drivers who are under ULEZ restrictions.... It will be a fiercely fought battle, can't see it being built in this term?

They've been trying to squeeze another runway into Heathrow for over 20 years, is it looking more likely to happen this time?

Of Course Mayor Khan
is against it.
But can not stop it
Isn't the justification that the expansion will be green, with electric planes? You won't catch me on an electric plane

I want them to bring back the idea for the weird sky bridges for bikes, those actually sounded quite fun.

Heathrow is a chaotic hell hole. I despise travelling from there.
I wish Qatar would operate from Cardiff again. Bloody Covid ruined that.

I always expect at least an hour to get out of heathrow when landing. the taxiing the walk to passport control and the baggage all take for ever.
Gatwick is fast if landing at the south terminal. never a queue for security.

Well first and foremost Heathrow has to agree  and if they do there will be massive disruption to the M25 so where else would you put a new runway ...:skull: where it will cause max disruption....
Micheal O Leary was on Sky this evening saying all Rachel was talking rubbish as it would take so long to build an if she did want growth, all she had to do was to get rid of passenger airport tax and growth would be immediate....
The new runway at Heathrow will not be ready until 2040....
they have a ready made runway there already, it's called the M4

She has also said that no full length runways have been built since 1940 - when Manchester had a second, full length runaway built that opened in 2001 so she hasn't even got her facts right.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves was grilled on her Heathrow expansion plans as she appeared live on BBC Breakfast.
Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty welcomed her onto the show to discuss her Heathrow expansion plans, with talks of a third runway being reported.
But Stayt was quick to point out her hypocrisy as he asked her: "Is it true that just a few years ago that you fought against expansion of Leeds-Bradford airport citing air and noise pollution?"
Reeves responded: "So that was in the pandemic and people weren't really flying, a lot has changed since then, including how aeroplanes fly and including sustainable aviation fuel, and as that evidence changes, I think it is right to look again at airport expansion.
"We've already as a government signed off expansion at Stansted Airport because we know how important it is to make sure Britain is connected."
Reeves went on to repeat how the changes in "how we fly" were "so important", insisting that flying was becoming more sustainable, as she added that "sustainable aviation and economic growth" could go hand in hand.
Stayt responded: "People at home have been listening very carefully to what you just said, Chancellor, I think you said you did oppose the Leeds-Bradford airport expansion because of air and noise pollution standards, and people don't like it when it when there are double standards."
Reeves tried to jump in to insist that "things had changed", but Stayt continued: "You seem to be involved in Nimbyish, where you don't want it outside your home, but now with Heathrow, you're taking an entirely different approach."
The stuttering Chancellor once again said that "things have changed", as she said that if new plans came forward at Leeds-Bradford, "she would support them".
Reeves' comments sparked a huge reaction from BBC viewers, as one raged: "Hypocrisy & makes no sense Labour have crashed economy after 7 months, yet now looking to stimulate growth by projects that will finish in 2050? Seriously?"
