I mean, it was only ever going to work with Sarah Michelle Gellar and she’s on board so i’m excited for whatever they do
Old favourites coming back for a modern reboot is not a sure sign of incoming quality. Just look at RTD with Doctor Who.

I hate to break it to you but the original in fact had multiple gay and black characters :omgno:. You'd have binned it as woke back in 2000.

the new lead star, Ryan Kiera Armstrong
and its confirmed Buffy will be in a recurring role in this revival, i'm thinking in a ''Giles'' alike role as a watcher  that could work nicely i think
and honestly, the ending of the original had quite an open ending, makes sense to bring it back now, with the OG's just older (although if James Marsters is back as Spike i'm assuming they make him younger with help of digitalisation since vampires don't age)

I want Riley to return. Sure he wasn’t the best boyfriend but he had layers. I was happy he was back for one episode in series 6

I doubt they have the budget for digital de-ageing, if they have JSpike back then I think most likely scenario would be that they'll say he managed to become human, you could even (in theory) have him still as a vampire by saying he was human for 20 years and aged normally then (for whatever reason) became a vampire again.
Then again... they didn't bother having an explanation for Angel, who was convincingly mid-20's when he joined Buffy but was CLEARLY a man pushing 40 by the end of Angel. I believe his actual age was 28 at the start of Buffy and 36 by end of Angel - but the "style" they gave him in the final Angel season (with the floppier hair and business suits) made him look even older :joker:.

I know he wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I thought he was well written

could be a nice idea for the plot honestly
imagine some pharmaceutical company (whom had some link to Wolfram & Hart) having found a way to make vampires into humans, with Spike as their first successful test subject

Tbf he was well written - but he was written to be a bit dull. That was the point of the Corn Fed Iowa Boy... he was supposed to be a complete contrast to Angel/Spike, a "nice guys finish last" situation, it's all a bit incelly in hindsight but then again, nothing compared to ol' Xander, with highlights like... setting off axe-in-hand because the woman that he broke up with was having sex with someone else :umm2:...
Whedon really did have his moments :joker:.

Might be the fact he was hot too that I liked him :joker: but I did enjoy his character arc

Tbf, Buffy was a very liberal Show back in the day.
