View Full Version : Is this possibly the worst season of Football ever?

It's probably a bizarre thread for me to make in particular, given the fact that Blues are on the verge of being a Championship side again next season (minus the odd blip here and there,) and we're going to get a team that's not called Man City winning the Premier League this season.

But I overall do think that something is just off about this season.

Especially the Premier League relegation fight has got to be the worst that it's ever been, the three sides that have come up are a fair bit behind every one else and it's really been showing itself over the last couple of months.

And I personally don't think that we should be seeing a second placed Dutch team losing 7-1 at home to Arsenal or any team in the Champions League.

And the fact that Villa comfortably beat the Belgian champions away from home in the Champions League, again shows that Europe has got a competitive issue with some of it's teams being dogshit in the Champions League, which kind of kills the concept of what the Champions League is meant to be about imo.

The best competition this season has been between the Championship and FA Cup imo, there's been some memorable games in those competitions for my personal taste this season.

What are your guys thoughts on this season?

Villa's win was more fortuitous than comfortable

well that is more due to because we failed to sell our overhyped players like Johan Bakayoko, Joey Veerman, Olivier Boscagli

those should've left last summer :idc:

and also quite some injured players: Malik Tillman, Sergino Dest, Ricardo Pepi (they only have one forward in CL: Luuk de Jong :skull:, while in the competition they signed Lucas Perez on a free transfer recently)

but tbh i don't care about european cup football, in terms of my team Fortuna Sittard

i hope we never play at this level again, since we would be hopelessly knocked out in the 1st qualifying round :fan: dutch teams can never do well in european cup like they used to back in the golden days of this sport

i am happy like how we do currently 9th, with 29 points, with a chance of getting to 32 this weekend (hopefully, at home against lower ranked team Heracles :fc: so we can play ourselves as good as safe again and more breathing space vs the relegation zone)

we have Kaj Sierhuis back at least, after 6 months of recovering from a knee injury, he was quite emotional after the assist to Ryan Fosso who scored the winning goal last match in extra time

i think the premier league is very competitive outside the top 2. Forrest have been a revelation this season

The champions league has always thrown up some high scoring matches, thats nothing new at all

The league has been very boring but the cup competitions have been good. Both domestic cups have been very open and thrown up some surprise results. Champions League new format has been good too and had a lot of drama with City nearly not making the next round then having to face Madrid

That is a fair observation.

But with the way Football has gone, do you think that PSV will be able to currently attract a player of Odegaard's quality?

I think once Villa had nearly qualified, yes.

And tbf there will always be fluke games where the weaker squad of players win.

Imo UEFA needs to be helping to invest in certain Leagues to get them up to a certain standard.

Because all the Champions League is nowadays is Real Madrid & Bayern Munich versus the Premier League.
