why I dislike the twins the most

I can see that people think the twins are nice, bubbly and never have rows, but I utterly despise them, and have done from day one, and I shall explain why.

They are common and shallow. All their life revolves around is hair straighteners, make up, all things pink and materialistic things in life. They have no depth to their personalities that I have seen, and all they do is scream when they are excited and jump on the setee, like children in primary school.

People claim they are nice, but really I see them as completely self centred, and with little to offer whatsoever. Every time I see one of them on the screen, they are smiling in that exceedingly dumb way. They are the epitome of a common dumb blond.

I think the only reason people like them, is that they cause little offense, and people for some reason endear themselves to these vacuous individuals.

It would be a tragedy if either of them won the show, as they have no distinct personalities from your common every day person, little deeper understanding of how the world goes round and hardly any insight into anything except for the remarkably shallow, materialistic things in life.

What do they have to offer, except their screams, jumping and the fact they are identical twins - a gimmick that was tired a second after the first show?

I'm not watching Big Brother to discover the next Nobel Prize winner. I'm watching it for entertainment, and they entertain me. Obviously, thats subjective and they don't entertain all people - but personally I find it funny and amusing to watch them constantly go on about pink and when they make ditzy mistakes.

For me, thats funny to watch - and lets be honest with ourselves here, the majority of people whom audition for Big Brother aren't much beyond vacuous and materialistic.

Naa they're just immature and have had a sheltered upbringing, that's no reason to despise them. Yes they can be silly and annoying at times, but they're bearable. Chanelle is closer to what you've described there.

True. It is subjective, and I find them as dull as people find darling Gerry dull. However, the point you make is 'the majority of people who audition....are vacuous and materialistic.' That does not mean ALL. And these girls are the EPITOME of shallow commoness, my point is that there are far more interesting people with a whole lot more depth and meaning to their character, and people who are entertained by such shallow antics as the twins' endeavours.

Unfortunately should BB decide to bring in deeper, intellectual, charismatic housemates then I'd imagine they'd lose a high percentage of their young viewing audience.

Many people believe Gerry to be dull and words such as "patronising" and "snobby" are thrown around just because he has one ounce of sense in him and doesn't run around pretending not to know what 'economy' means.

It's in BB's main interests to bring in more HMs like the twins because those are the ones that get the audiences and the votes, and who can blame them.

'Common' means run of the mill, ordinary, like everyone else. Unfortunately, most people are like the twins. I see. So you are indeed a misanthrope. I fit your definition of 'common' - but then again, pretty much everyone does.

I am sure you do fit my definition of common, but that is what being common is about - most people do fit these criteria. However, to claim 'pretty much everyone does' is an exaggeration, as there are a handful of people who are not common and go against the norm.

'Pretty much everyone', i.e. the majority. 'A handful' is a minority. So not much of 'an exaggeration', really.

I'm not sure about 'invalidating your argument' - that would suggest it had some validity in the first place. As a rule, it would be unfair to be quite so dismissive. But when you've effectively said that you 'despise' people for being normal, there's not a great deal of leeway. There's no reason why anyone has to like any of the hm's. But to 'despise' people for no valid reason whatsoever is ridiculous.

The show is about entertainment, and the twins are fun good housemates. Fair enough if your excuse is 'they are not entertaining' but you only support the housemates who are clever and intellectual and thats just stupid imo.

What a source of serenity and solidarity Sam and Amanda are in the house. If you were to take out these two lovely girls there'd be an immense gaping hole in the recipe that makes up the dynamics of the house, this year. First of all, I consider it a little unfair that two family members have been allowed to compete together like this, but I think it's worth it, for our sakes, in the circumstances. No matter how bad the atmosphere gets in the house at times, the twins are inevitably keeping their noses out of the problems and patiently waiting for an opportunity to have some fun, enjoy their time and with any luck get some other people smiling aswell. Two 19 year old girls with bundles of energy! Oh no, they want to enjoy themselves, run around the house having water fights, getting some much needed exercise whilst they're stuck in that house. Yes, stuck in a house. What do you want them to do Moses455, start an anti-apathy campaign down at the local recreational centre, or help all the local drug addicts and alcoholics put some sort of purposeful meaning into their day? They're locked in a house.

Not only are the twins locked in a house, they're coping exceptionally well, which just goes to show their admirable level of resolve under pressure. Something a misanthrope can only look on at and envy, I'm sure. Many times have I seen Sam or Amanda in conversation with other housemates, perfectly fluent in coherent English sentences, regularly inquisitive, rarely self-centered and always endearingly polite. I couldn't really imagine better company. Then, of course is the novelty of them being twins. When Sam isn't off cooking, relaxing or talking to someone and Amanda isn't off jumping on the setees, flirting with boys or planning some sort of mischief to entertain herself, there's the lovely familiar interactions between the two which can only be appreciated by the viewers and something we'll probably never experience, unless of course you have a clone of yourself hidden away somewhere, or are a twin also.

Seldom do i see 19 year olds screamin about in a childlike fashion, actin like a child at christmas when they see the colour pink, constantly usin terms from american teen movies, always sayin woo and love it at the most random and irrelevant times, bein constantly full of energy even when the mood of the house is low, spookily finishin each others sentences etc.etc

Sorry but if this common of someone of 19 in this day and age then i havent got a leg to stand on but somehow I dont think it is.
Maybe common for that of a 5 year old but not at 19.
Ive never seen anyone (except in movies) quite like them.

Yes they are immature, silly and over the top but thats what makes them unique and all the better to watch.
