…yeah, that’s what’s always been the thing…even paying the fine, it’s still often the more affordable option than a holiday in high season during school breaks…and that’s something that should have been assessed long ago, since fines came into force…but what it’s showing is that it’s less about concern for a child missing any valuable school time and more about the money, honey…as always, sadly…

I don't agree with removing kids from school during term time. But neither do I agree with teachers having training days in term time when they have SO MUCH time off anyway.

The thing is though, this is most often during the last few weeks of term time when (frankly) they ain't learning sh*t. If people were taking kids out during an exam year that would be one thing, or if the kid was already behind/struggling and really couldn't afford to miss it, but do I think most kids are having their education dramatically affected by missing a couple of weeks at the end of term in Primary 4? Err... no, they are obviously not.
