View Full Version : SpaceX on Tuesday launched its ninth Starship test flight: It Exploded

[SpaceX on Tuesday launched its ninth
Starship test flight from Starbase, Texas,
but the rocket encountered issues
in orbit because of a
booster exploding shortly
before its expected splashdown.

The early explosion led to fuel leaks,
which caused the rocket to begin
spinning uncontrollably.
SpaceX said its flight team had lost
altitude control as the vehicle continued
its atmospheric re-entry.
In March, a Starship rocket on its eighth
test flight exploded shortly after
it was launched from Texas, grounding flights
and triggering warnings about falling
spaceship debris.]

To be fair, this absolutely deserved to happen because I don't like what Elon does with a social media app, so I'm going to be smug online.

On this test
They know it was a fuel leak,

Mars Mission is a long way off
by then, corrections can help ensure
that journey goes off well.

I see what you're saying but to be fair there's a bit more to it than that - e.g. perhaps a tech billionaire best known for making **** electric cars with shocking production standards MIGHT be wasting time and money trying to build space-ships... and I think it's fairly valid to find it a bit gross that the world's richest man spends a not-small-chunk on cobbling together the world's most expensive fireworks.

Overview

The Tesla Model 3 is good to drive, packed full of tech, fast and even reasonably practical. It’s also competitively priced and well equipped, and when you factor in its long range and Tesla's world-beating charging infrastructure, it's a brilliant choice. We reckon the entry-level RWD version is the best buy.

i don't think he does much these days apart from post on X. With regards to him taking drugs, as an outsider all people can really say is he has been eratic and has become more eratic over the last couple of years. I've no idea if that's related to drugs or not. It's also the case that he is the richest man in the world, i've no idea how i would behave if i were in that position, but i'm sure I would be seen as eccentric

The Starship rocket isn't safe for astronauts. If that explosion had happened with people in it there would be no way to escape it. Also the reentry, when coming back, needs to work perfectly. Those were the two problems that the space shuttle always had that made it more dangerous.

Elon has been saying recently SpaceX are going to send unmanned Starships to Mars next year. That's obviously not happening. It is supposed to be used as well for Nasa's next moon landing, but proving that is a way off.

He's obviously had a lot of successes - I don't really like electric cars but I see Teslas everywhere now - but he has some strange ideas also.

He's invested well; firstly into paypal, then tesla. That's where his "successes" have come from. All funded by an emerald mine he inherited. I struggle to see where he has achieved anything on his own merits. All of his other stuff is funded by government subsidies, which is stealing money from tax payers who are living in continually worsening conditions.

I think this number 12 Rocket

…thank you sir, the time between them seems quite short…with huge explosions involved, I somehow thought it would be much longer to feel as though all could be right for another launch…

…I mean, pardoning the pun but he’s just many, many miles and a galaxy away from success…I just don’t think it helps either that he seems to rush into the next so quickly….huge explosions aren't a small tweak, they surely indicate a huge time needed to address the technicals etc….

Watch: SpaceX Starship completes successful test flight
Close
SpaceX has successfully launched its 10th test flight of the Starship, the world's most powerful rocket.
The rocket, which in previous launches had multiple catastrophic failures, is earmarked for use in a 2027 mission to the Moon.
The rocket successfully re-entered Earth and splashed down in the Indian Ocean about an hour after the initial launch.
