He wasn’t the main singer as I recall they shared the lead vocals between him and Maurice White who sadly passed away a few years ago

I always thought Maurice sang more leads than Phil tbh

Yes it is sad we lost Maurice
the Band Leader,
in the 1960's he was a session drummer
