We were at a restaurant earlier and my other half told them not to sing to me for my birthday as I hate it (which I do haha).

But do you mind if people sing it to you in public??

I revel in it, conduct them, and demand encores.

I find it so cringey being given such public attention.

I don't really like to have that much attention in public tbh.

I would appreciate the gesture though.

What about if it wasn’t in public but at home?

Yes the public attention part is utter cringe. When it's people I know and care for quite a bit, then it's actually very nice (but still cheesy).

I'm better with that.

We’ve got a little birthday-bash coming up for my nephew (who’ll be 1) in August. I wonder if he’ll appreciate happy birthday being sung to him wrapped up in the comfort of his house.

He'll probably love it like Kate said.

Children I think likes the spotlight on average more than an adult.

I mean that in the nicest possible way.

I’m not a big fan of it and my mates aren’t either, but one time at Harvester me and a few friends went out for a birthday meal and whilst one of my friends (whose birthday it was) went to the toilet, we quickly called the waiter over and asked when they bring out the dessert could they sing happy birthday to him

His face when it happened was priceless and even the waiter was laughing at one point .
