Harry Potter angers Zionist regime

The date set for the launch of the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" has angered the Zionist officials.
The date of synchronized worldwide launch of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" has angered the officials of the Zionist regime.
The bespectacled British teenager who has magical powers has triggered the latest religious controversy in Israel.
The latest and last installment of the massively popular series is to be launched at 2:01 a.m. local time this Saturday which falls on the Jewish Sabbath, when the Israeli law requires business to be closed.
Sabbath is day of "rest and worship" in Judaism.
With Israelis already clamoring for "Deathly Hallows'' many bookstores are planning to launch the book on time anyway. That has drawn fire from the Orthodox Jewish lawmakers, including Industry and Trade Minister Eli Yishai, who threatened to fine any store that opens Saturday.
Avraham Ravitz of the United Torah Judaism Party slammed the Potter books for their "defective messages.''
"We don't have to be dragged like monkeys after the world with this subculture, especially when it violates our holy Sabbath,'' Ravitz said in a statement.

I could understand if there wasn't a great demand for the book and it fell on Sabbath, but I can very much imagine most of the people queuing outside the businesses that are opening are also Jewish - so I don't see the problem?
Anyway, he could always just lingardium leviosa their arses.
(PS. I made that spell up, it's not real or from the book or anything...)

thats a little to much for me. It's a book launch for goodness sake, those that want to abide by the sabbath will those that dont simply wont.
We don't have to be dragged like monkeys after the world with this subculture
And nobody is asking ye to so piss off and lets those who want to get 'dragged around' buy the bleedin' book!

the key word in the original post is "orthodox"
Which the OP skirts over and I wonder why,
I'll be generous and include the "ultra-orthodox" also, yet it begs questions of the original poster, the first is why bother with this non-story if the OP is a knowledgable as he claims.
Yes, there have been complaints raised by some "Orthodox Jewish Lawmakers", yet you leave out the deafening silence of the majority as you post this "story" without any contextual comment.
What you don't comment on is the majority of the jewish faith who couldn't care less : the Reconstructionists, the Flexidox, the Conservative, the Reform and the Humanistic. technically I should also include the ultra orthodox in my list, but as I said I am being generous
Your argument is tantamount to saying that the christians who picketted cinemas during the screenings of, for instance, The Last Temptation Of Christ were the majority voice and spoke for the whole of the population of the Christian countries.
That is patently false.
I also notice you try to have your cake and eat it to, on one hand you attack orthodox jews for this, on the other hand you attack "zionist jews", as though the two are the same, attack them for different things but collect them together under the banner "Jews" when you attack policy in the Middle East. Yet if you are as well versed as you claim to be, then you must know that all Orthodoxies of Judaism oppose Zionism.

I though debate was all about what opposite sides know, and the putting across of opinion where you reach either consensus or impasse, should one side refuse to accept logic, truth and reality.
If it wasn't then "debate" would be
Yes it is
No it isnt
I'm right
No you're not
Yes I am
No you're not
Pepsi is better that Coke *
No it isn't
Yes it is
* It is better - just in case you wanted my considered opinion

People will make anything out of everything these days.
Nobody cares if it clashes with anything, it's a book launch and nothing more. :nono:

To be fair to those kind of comments it was a major pop-culture event.

No it wasn't.
Dont kid yourself , you might not be a harry potter fan , but it was a story that made news worldwide , the culminaiton to one of the most well known and successful seires of books ever. Millions of copies sold in under 24 hours. People dressed as witches and wizzards lining street corners. If that was not a pop-culture event I dont know what is.
