This is one performance in one theatre, where they've said there is a tense scene where a cat chases a mouse. It's not news and not worth getting annoyed over

Is a cat even mentioned in the original nursery rhyme?

Is a cat even mentioned in the original nursery rhyme?

I was thinking this. A cat isn’t mentioned at all,

Hickory dickory dock.
The mouse ran up the clock.
The clock struck one,
The mouse ran down,
Hickory dickory dock.

I dont think it relates to the rhyme but there is a terrifying cat in the show no doubt a person of pink and or blue hair decided it was time to warn the bairns

Even one show is one too many.

But why? This isn’t some Government-led conspiracy that they’re implementing through the back door. This is a private decision made by a private company to warn that kids under 3 might be scared of a cat chasing a mouse.

Nobody is being forced to attend, nobody is even being asked to take it seriously, it changes nothing. It’s okay to say it’s silly, but it’s ridiculous to call it news and pretend like it’s this big deal that that signals the downfall of society.

It’s just one company giving a warning to their very few attendees for one play. Why are we not okay about a small independent theatre company in some town making a private decision about how they market their own play, regardless of how silly it seems.

Articles like this are designed to outrage people who want to be offended over every little thing.

They’re playing you, they’re creating a division based on nothing, and you’re playing into their hands.

Ammi
24-06-2025, 06:59 AM
…there isn’t even any type of trigger warning on the company’s website, there is nothing but reviews from parents who have taken their children to see the production…I have no idea what the article is referring to but as BBXX says, it definitely feels as though the theatre company aren't the only people ‘putting in a show’….these things are so much cultivated by media to create outrage and divide…

To me it's simple.

Trigger warnings should be there for more adult material, not Hickory Dickory Dock.

You don't see children being scared of similar stories like Tom & Jerry for example.

So they're not putting up a trigger warning?

If so then BBXX was correct, and the Media are ****-stirring.

Treated like a snowflake!' University slaps woke trigger warnings on
Shakespeare plays for 'storms' and 'depiction of magic'

A University has added trigger warnings on Willian Shakespeare’s works,
including for “extreme weather” and “popping balloons”.

A total of 220 warnings were added to his works, as well as famous
adaptations from the BBC, ITV, and theatrical versions.

The University of the West of England (UWE) told drama students that TV
adaptations of Macbeth referenced “war” and “psychological distress”.

For The Tempest, viewers were warned there may be “extreme weather” and
“depiction of magic.”

A 2016 stage adaptation was flagged because “popping of balloons” were
involved.

Warnings on The Winter’s Tale include “references to wild animal attack,” due
to it being alluded that a character was killed by a bear.

The same play also warns of “puppetry” and “pregnancy” as potential causes
of distress amongst the audience.

Tbf though, we do have some people abusing the Trigger Warning system nowadays.

I remember Amazon putting a Trigger Warning on a Reacher episode for "smoking" which is just ridiculous imo.

Because to me personally, Trigger Warnings should be there for dark material within the story.

And obviously Health Warnings (if they count as Trigger Warnings) should always be there imo.
