Just wondering — do you stay in contact with everyone in your family, or are there people you no longer speak to?

Same goes for your partner’s family — have you kept in touch with everyone, or are there connections that have been lost?

We don’t speak to my dad’s side of the family. They’re very jealous and generally not very nice people.

My other half doesn’t speak to his older brother and sister because of a drama a few years back.

I don't have a massive family. I rarely speak to my brother but not because of any particular drama but we are very different people with very different lives. We are cordial when we do see each other (usually for my Dad's sake) but he is still the only person who can make me lose my temper in 0.2 seconds with just a look:laugh:. Having said that - he is great with my son - who usually spends a week in the summer with him now he is older so he can be with his cousins (they also live very near Thorpe Park and my son is a rollercoaster junkie so he loves being there). My mum has a big extended family down south but I wouldn't know many of them if I fell over them. I'm quite close to my Dads side - brother and his wife and kids but that's about it family wise.

I still message to my ex-father in law daily as I promised my ex mother in law before she passed that I would check in with him regularly.

I speak to all of my family.

Some of us don't live in the same area, so we mainly interact on Social Media in those dynamics.

But yeah, speaking for myself I hold no issues with any of my family members.

That’s lovely that you still text your ex father in law

We get on well with my mums side of the family. We all live quite close close to each other and we are all in a group chat on WhatsApp.

They’ll always be someone at my nans, it’s like the hub of the family.

…I don’t not speak to any as such but I don’t get the opportunity to actively see them all either…there were 14 children in my dad’s family..(..Irish catholics…)…and 8 children in my mom’s family and many, many children/cousins…and located in different countries with some…just not long ago I ‘attended’ an online funeral for an aunt which is quite a strange experience…anyways, as everyone was arriving at the crematorium, there was a lady who attended and she was me…a younger version of me, it was so strange and completely disorientated me because she was so me in every way…she’s a cousin but I haven’t seen her for a long time…anyway, I spoke to her mom in text just following the funeral and she said that they’d always spoken about who her daughter looked like/which family member as there wasn’t so much either parent resemblance there and now that I said it…?…she could see…it’s strange to think that there’s ‘another you’ out there that you hadn’t realised….we’re meeting for lunch in a few weeks, though so I’ll see what she thinks…whether she sees it too…

That’s crazy.

I’m quite similar looking to a cousin on my dad’s side. My dads son.

My dad and my uncle are twins. I’m the spitting image of my dad but I can see myself in my cousin. The same with my sister and my uncles daughter: they’re quite similar.

That’s cool.

We’re very close to my mums side. That’s the side I count as family.

I don’t consider my dad’s side as family. The only connection we have with them is strictly DNA. No emotional depth there.

I've not "fallen out with" any of my family. If we ran into each other we'd definitely chat etc. But we certainly don't make the effort we should to stay in touch.

I don't have a big family but get on with the majority although don't speak to/see most of them that often. The only person I really dislike/wouldn't talk to if I saw her is my youngest cousin, the rest I'd get on with but they're all just... too interested in other people's business lol.

When my dad’s mum died, he was the only one of us that went to the funeral. I remember my cousin messaging beforehand and asking if I was “coming to nans funeral”. Didn’t consider her my nan she was never interested in us.

I have my mums mum still.

We don’t really speak to my mums side since her sister died, minus my grandad. We talk to a few on my dads side but a big drama happened so don’t keep in touch with most of my dads side

That's fair enough.

Family relationships can be complicated tbf, I count myself extremely lucky to be out of any family drama.

So far I do.

Although there are family that are hostile to each other which makes it harder to have family gatherings.

There's a lot of family I hardly ever see, however up to now, there's none I wouldn't speak to or engage with on both my Mum and Dad's side.

My dad’s side were never really interested in us. He worked with his brother in law at the same company and my dad was better at his job and got the promotion. Brother in law felt inadequate and my dad’s sister was jealous because we had more money and the fancy holidays.

Sad

No, degenerates on both sides and my dad's family basically blamed us for his death. I only care about my mother, siblings, siblings kids and a very select handful of other relatives.

Ditto. We have no reason not to.

I have one or two cousins I don’t see eye-to-eye but that’s small fry in the grand scheme of things. It doesn’t matter.
