"The information we have so far is that the car, which was a Lamborghini, was in a road traffic accident and left the road due to a tyre blow out while overtaking.
"It was in the early hours, 00:30 BST, in the municipality of Cernadilla in the province of Zamora.
"The car caught on fire and the two occupants were killed."
When asked to confirm the identities of those involved in the accident, the Guardia Civil said: "The player and his brother, Andre Silva."

i'm in shock, RIP Diogo and Andre
even more thankful now i still can celebrate his legacy as the footballer he was on FIFA 23, he is also one of my mainly used starting 11 players back when i had a liverpool career mode
he was quite a talented goalscorer, also a very creative player
:bawling: he'll be missed for sure
I don't know who he is as don't follow football but that horrendous. His poor children
One of the nicest people in football apparently- well loved by everyone
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There were rumours of him being allowed to leave ( along with Nunez and Diaz ) as well so we will never know his mindset.. He may have even been in talks with some other clubs and been distracted - who knows ..

I read they were heading to the Port at Santander to catch the Ferry as Jota had a lung op and had been advised not to fly which is even more tragic if that is the case

I read they were heading to the Port at Santander to catch the Ferry as Jota had a lung op and had been advised not to fly which is even more tragic if that is the case
Ultimately it will be the fact he was driving to fast that caused the blow out that then caused him to lose control
It’s tragic because it was avoidable
Sometimes **** happens, this was a super car, all it could take was going over the edge of a kerb or something to weaken the tyre and increase the chances of a blow out
Liverpool and Portugal football player Diogo Jota, 28, and his brother, Andre Silva, 25, have died in a car crash in the Spanish city of Zamora
The pair were said to be driving to a ferry to return to the UK after Jota couldn't fly due to a lung operation
The tragedy comes just a fortnight after Jota married his long-term partner, Rute Cardoso
Tributes have poured in from Keir Starmer, Kenny Dalglish and teammates Harvey Elliott and Darwin Nunez
A minute's silence will be held at the women's Euros match between Spain and Portugal at 8pm tonight

Apparently its full of potholes and has been that way for some time, that is pretty unacceptable for a major road

Tito Vilanova also wanted that, but hey he too got a ceremony very much in the media, and attended by the entire Barcelona squad back then
this truly does show that Liverpool is a family club, if we didn't already know that enough, same how they also remember the Hillsborough disaster every year

Two witnesses have come forward claiming the car was travelling at a moderate speed, apparently 8 days earlier a woman had an accident on the same stretch and had to be cut out of her car so the condition of the road may be a factor, I hope they are not covering up to stop a claim against the local authority
