Well it is the capital and it doesn't cause any trouble or harm so there's no reason not to have it really.

What's his objection? I'll be interested to see. Does he want it banned countrywide or just in London for some reason.
people can do what they want, it's a free country

I can't foresee any valid objections.
The UK ranks 30th in the World on the LGBT Equality Index, which takes into account legal rights (which it performs well at) as well as tolerance towards LGBT people socially. 30th is a poor placing and needs improving upon because every year it drops placements. this shows Pride is still needed.
There is no harm in pride, and it brings in swathes of tourism for cities like London, Manchester, Brighton, Liverpool, Bristol, etc... which is beneficial for its economy.
It'll be interesting to see what he has to say, considering he is self-proclaimed supporter of freedom of speech.

I agree completely. It's far removed from the likes of the Notting Hill Festival. It's peaceful.

I have no problem with Pride, so long as it's properly and responsibly run, unlike Notting Hill. God knows people need happy, fun events after two years of pro-Palestine marches every weekend.

Ali pointed out the Lack
of Funding that effected todays event.
He also stated many companies
are no longer funding it,
like what has gone down in America.

Yes it is. And that's exactly where, and only where, an annual event for the whole nation's LGBTQ should take place.

I can see why we're slipping on this issue, given that this Ali dude is questioning Pride's existence within the country.
Because would he like it if someone questioned himself being in the country? Because I bet that he wouldn't.
…lots of joyful Pride moments, it doesn’t feel as though any protests impacted the day in any big way for most…

It shouldn’t be only in London. Why should the rest of us have to go to that cess-pit to have a pride event?

Wakefield Pride MARCH cancelled.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GvpG5V_XUAEV0x5?format=png&name=small
[Wakefield Pride has had to cancel its planned
march this year, according to
the Wakefield Express.
The cancellation is due to the decision by
West Yorkshire Police to deem the planned
march route unsafe,
particularly in the event of a serious incident
at the Ridings Shopping Centre,
which has high visitor numbers
on Sundays.
The march was originally planned for
Sunday, August 3rd, alongside the main
event at Thornes Park]

More than 85 Pride organisations say they've seen a reduction in corporate
sponsorships or partnerships, according to a questionnaire by the UK Pride
Organisers Network (UKPON), which said it represents the majority of UK Pride
events.
Some celebrations have already been cancelled or postponed, while others are
scaling back plans or charging for tickets to what have previously been free-to-
attend events (who would pay to watch?).

August?! Pride month is meant to be June, why drag it on so much?
(Apart from the financial incentives and giving Professional Gays the opportunity to go to multiple events)

Yeah, just seems a weird thing to cringe about that’s all. Particularly as a gay man, but you do you.
I think I remember you saying you have never gone to pride so maybe that’s why! It’s just a bit of fun. :)

I don't have strong feelings on Pride either way.
I guess if people want to go then I'm happy that they're happy?

I'm fine with it being a bit of fun, I just question its need in the modern west is all, I spose. Especially as it (demonstrably!) has become more about making money for the organisers, than keeping any pretence of a protest.

If big business is backing off, maybe it just proves the support was never genuine. And “who would pay to watch?” Well, definitely not the usual homophobes who’ve always hated it anyway. Shock horror, Pride isn’t for you. it’s for people who celebrate identity, not those who fear anything LGBTQ+ because it threatens their weird little idea of normal.
