to the UK have been announced,
with the US president due to be welcomed
by the King.
Buckingham Palace also confirmed that
President Trump and first lady Melania will be
hosted by the King and Queen at Windsor Castle.

It was expected that the three-day state visit
would take place in September after
Mr Trump let slip earlier in April that
he believed that was when his second
"fest" was being planned for.

Windsor was also anticipated to be the location
after the US president told reporters
in the Oval Office that the letter from
the King said Windsor would be the setting.
Refurbishment works at Buckingham Palace
also meant that Windsor was used last week
for French President Emmanuel Macron's visit.

This will be Mr Trump's second state visit
to the UK, an unprecedented gesture towards
an American leader,
having previously been invited
to Buckingham Palace in 2019.]

I like that Melania can still dress well, but not so OTT it's terribly distracting. Even though her dress is a very bright banana :laugh:..., it feels in line with the others overall. She's almost blending in with the atmosphere (gilded walls, etc)... so maybe that was intentional. It's almost like she's juxtaposed with Camilla (her bright blue)... but then looking at the other photos, they both look more muted. (There's definitely masked curve adjustments going on, look at the fringes around their hair... simply glowing)

I can see people thinking differently about the banana, that it's too loud...

The King, Queen, Prince William and Princess Kate welcomed the President and First Lady Melania to Britain on Wednesday as his historic second state visit began.

But Charles, 76, was seemingly so distracted by Trump, 79, that he 'forgot' Camilla, 78, and Melania, 55.

In a blink and you'd miss it moment, the Queen was seen brushing her husband's arm in a rare public move to regain her husband's attention - and to remind him that she was there.

According to body language expert Judi James, she was compelled to do so because the King had been 'love bombed' by their American visitor.

Sharing her analysis of the meeting, Judi exclusively told Daily Mail: 'King Charles's body language on Trump's arrival seems to endorse this idea of the two men being friends.

'He's seen peering through an open balcony door like an anxious parent, propping it with one hand as he waits impatiently for Trump's helicopter to land.'

'When the two men meet Charles appears so focused on his friend Trump that he forgets his etiquette involving the rest of the group, particularly the wives,' she continued.

Charles was so distracted, however, that Queen Camilla was forced to get his attention by brushing his arm

'Taking Trump over to introduce him to his private secretary he seems so intent on hosting the POTUS that he leaves the Queen and the FLOTUS standing waiting behind.

'He's lowered his head in an act of "submission" here and the crinkling around his eye suggests he is beaming with pleasure.

'He also has one hand behind his back, all of which would suggest there's no air of regal haughtiness here as he is 'love-bombed' by the President.

Judi also claimed that Trump's body language has evolved since his previous visit to the UK.

'With this second term in office, he has been busy creating his own "kingdom" in the US, from the gold leaf redecoration of the White House to the recent Military parade, meaning this meeting with King Charles, who he now calls a "good friend" is more a meeting of equals,' she said.

Elsewhere during this afternoon's meeting, Trump was seen telling Kate: 'You're beautiful', according to a lip reader.

Kate gave Trump a big smile as they shook hands at Windsor Castle. The Trumps and the Waleses then walked side by side, with William and Trump chatting.

The Trumps joined the King and Queen and William and Kate for a carriage procession through the Windsor estate towards the castle.

The scale and spectacle of the military ceremonial on show for Trump is unprecedented and marks the largest military ceremonial welcome for a state visit to the UK in living memory.

In total, around 120 horses and 1,300 members of the British military were involved in the ceremonial welcome at Windsor, with 160 personnel from the Royal Marines and Royal Navy, 1,000 from the British Army and 140 from the Royal Air Force.

This is well in excess of the 850 who took part in French President Emmanuel Macron's state visit in July.

Eighty soldiers from the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment formed the Sovereign's Escort travelling with the carriages, with the Life Guards dressed in their red tunics and white plumed helmets and Blues and Royals in their blue tunics and red plumes.

The processional route, which was not open to the public, was lined by 22 half-companies of personnel from throughout the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the British Army and the Royal Air Force.

As they made their way to the castle, the Trumps passed not far from Frogmore House, where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had their evening wedding reception in May 2018.

They also travelled near Frogmore Cottage, briefly home to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex before they quit the working monarchy in 2020 and moved to America.

There will be no public-facing engagements for the President during his trip, with thousands expected to take part in major protests against his two-day stay.

Sir Keir Starmer faced an awkward question from a US journalist over his plan to recognise a Palestinian state during a joint press conference with Donald Trump. The reporter asked the Prime Minster why he was "waiting for President Trump to leave the country" before going ahead with the move.

It comes after reports that Keir held off on formally announcing the UK will recognise a Palestinian state until after Mr Trump leaves for fear it could dominate the press conference. The journalist asked: "If you feel so strongly about officially recognising Palestine for statehood why are you waiting for President Trump to leave the country? Why can't you just do it right now? Isn't there a risk in rewarding Hamas with that?"

"We have extended family in Israel, I understand first-hand the psychological impact that had across Israel.

"So I know exactly where I stand in relation to Hamas. Hamas of course don’t want a two-state solution, they don’t want peace, they don’t want a ceasefire.

"I’m very clear where I stand on Hamas. On the question of recognition I made my position clear at the end of my July as to the timing which has got nothing to do with this state visit and I’ve discussed it with the President, as you would expect amongst two leaders who respect each other and like each other and want to bring about a better solution in the best way that we can.”

The Prime Minister previously said he plans to recognise Palestinian statehood ahead of the United Nations general assembly in New York this month if Israel does not meet a series of conditions to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Earlier in the press conference, Mr Trump described Sir Keir's plan to recognise a Palestinian state as "one of our few disagreements".

He said: "I have a disagreement with the Prime Minister on that score, one of our few disagreements actually."
