Storm Floris will bring "unseasonably strong and potentially disruptive winds" to Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and the North of England on Monday, the Met Office has said.
A yellow weather warning will come into force at 06:00 on Monday and remain in place until 06:00 on Tuesday.
Gusts of up to 85mph could hit exposed Scottish coastlines and hills, while winds of 60 to 70mph are expected elsewhere.
Winds will first ease in the west later on Monday but will remain very strong overnight until early Tuesday in the east.
"Heavy rain may also contribute to the disruption in places," the Met Office said.
Storm Floris is the sixth named storm of the 2024/2025 season.
Storm Éowyn – which occurred in late January – was the last named storm to affect the UK.
The Met Office has advised flying debris and large waves could cause injuries and danger to life.
They also advised people to secure loose items such as garden furniture, trampolines, tents and sheds.
The weather is expected to cause travel disruption as many people travel across the country during the school holidays. Road, rail, air and ferry services could be impacted.
The warning zone covers Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland, north Wales and the north of England.

What a name.
Storm Floris ??!!
What a name.
……as Nicky said, it has Dutch origins…but it does feel like such a calm and peaceful word/name for a fierce storm being predicted…

Where is the storm hitting? It’s beautiful here.
…it’s beautiful here too…I’ve had so many warnings come up on my newsfeed over the last few days but I’m not sure how much it’s actually going to hit around here…areas of Scotland I think, it’s mainly centred on…

Be careful if you live in the area where storm will hit.
Really nice day here in Italy. Sunshine after 2 days of rain.

I would not go out just in case, also switch off the electrics and charge your toaster

Thousands still without power in aftermath of Storm Floris…
Thousands of homes are still without power as the clean-up continues in the aftermath of Storm Floris.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) said it had restored supplies to 50,000 homes but that 22,000 remained without power at 08:00 on Tuesday.
Network Rail said teams had been working "tirelessly" to clear routes after 119 incidents were reported on train lines across Scotland on Monday, amid gusts of up to 90mph in some parts.
ScotRail said most routes had now reopened, with some final checks being made.
Cancelled trains and flights caused widespread disruption across the UK on Monday, while many roads were closed by fallen trees.
SSEN said Floris - which resulted in an amber warning - was "the most damaging summer storm in recent memory" with thousands of properties hit in the Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire.
