View Full Version : Ricky Jones: Suspended Labour councillor found not guilty
A suspended Labour councillor who said far-right protesters should have their throats slit has been found not guilty of encouraging violent disorder.
Ricky Jones, 58, drew his finger across his throat and called demonstrators "disgusting Nazi fascists" at an anti-racism protest in east London last August following the Southport murders.
Jones, a borough councillor in Dartford, Kent, from 2019, said he felt it was his "duty" to attend the protest in Walthamstow, despite being warned by his party to stay away. He was suspended the day after the incident.
Jones, of Dartford, who denied one count of encouraging violent disorder, told police he was "sorry" he made the comments "in the heat of the moment", and had not intended for them to be "taken literally", the court had earlier heard.

One man's defence is another woman's 2 and a half years in jail.
Country is so messed up.

Lucy Connelly was also remorseful, took her tweet down which was posted in the heat of the moment, and I expect didn't expect to be taken literally
Shame she wasn't Brown!

As soon as they moved his trial date, I knew he would get away with it, they waited until tensions around this particular case had abated....shame on them

He went through the justice system and it came to a conclusion, whether you like the result or not, that’s how the system works

The Jury took half an hour to reach a decision I would love to know the political leanings of the jurors

Ah so now we’re going to attack jurors next when the people you disagree with don’t get the decisions you want for them, how very democratic

If we are taking it like for like with Lucy Connolly
Said something in the heat of the moment and regretted it, the only difference here is she wasn't given any time to organise herself and was poorly advised to plead guilty, she was a random woman on the internet, he is an elected councillor whose words carry weight with his community I am sure, he was given months to sort out his defence and his regret, the two situations are not even comparable when you consider his standing in the community and hers, he is well known, she is not

She pled guilty, if she wanted her day in court to defend herself and her actions, she should have taken that option like this guy did, she didn’t, she knew what she was pleading to and she admitted her offence, she would have been afforded the same procedures through the system, it’s nobodies fault she’s in prison but her own, stop simping for a racist criminal just because she’s a woman, it makes you look foolish.
She’s also the wife of a Tory councillor so should really be aware of how everything works, she’s not just a random woman on the internet lmao

Why are you simping for a Brown man who calls for peoples throats to be cut at a public gathering, and you talk about me looking foolish, its plain as day he was given a pat on the back just like the Labour MP who battered his constituent and got a suspended sentence, your party are even worse than the Tories, I didn't think it was possible but they are,and they are handing the next election to Reform...Gawd help us all

I’m not simping for him, don’t know what his colour has anything to do with it, but it’s obviously a big factor for you it seems, whatever punishment he was given would have been appropriate, if he was found guilty you definitely wouldn’t have found me calling him a political prisoner like you lot do over this woman and the likes of Tommy Robinson :joker:
Also not my party, which you already know, but insist on being wrong about constantly for some reason, this lot aren’t anywhere close to what I’d expect a Labour Party to be by any imagination, but if you genuinely think this lot are worse than the 14 years of Tory then there’s nothing that can be said to you to overcome the billionaire media class propaganda you’ve been force fed unfortunately
A quick question for Liam, who can chose to answer truthfully or not.
After seeing the result of this trial, and the sentence that women was given. Do you think proper justice has been served?
