View Full Version : England : Normal Rubbish to be collected every 3 weeks (on the way)

[In some parts of England, such as West Berkshire Council,
councils are moving to three-weekly collections
for non-recyclable waste (black bins) to encourage recycling,
reduce waste, and support environmental goals.
However, bin collection frequency varies
by local authority, so you must check with your
specific council for their current policy.]

The real reason is because they're cheap bastards.

We already have the 3 week rubbish collection where I am in Wales, had it about a year now.
It’s an annoying timeframe to try and remember when the bins need to go out. I have to check the rubbish collection date site each week.

…have you not got an app out there in Walesland that pings you the day before rubbish collection and tells you which bin you’re putting out…?…if you check your council website, you may have one and you’ll get notifications…

No. Our useless council couldn’t possibly do that. Too busy wasting money on other things such as oversupplying food bins. I ordered a replacement one (big and small). After three weeks it hadn’t arrived. Chased them up about it. Following week they sent me new ones. Then the next day I got more new ones.

Yeah. We are allowed 3 x 20L bags every 3 weeks. We’re also not allowed to keep them in the big green bin on collection day anymore, we have to put the loose bags on the pavement for collection the night before. Fun when the birds etc go at them overnight/in the morning.
Also fun trying to get the bag at the bottom of the green bin as it’s so low it’s a struggle to reach.

Annoying but at least an easy time scale to know when the next collection is. I find 3 weeks a jarring timescale.
Trouble is you get so many HMOs these days where you might have four/five adults in a house with one black bin, makes anything less frequent than fortnightly a challenge
I'd rather our recycling collections were cut back rather than black bin. Recycling is still every week in Bristol

Yeah, recycling and food waste is still weekly here.
