Amy is the remnants of Hurricane Humberto that arrived as a tropical wave from central Africa moving west towards the Windies, formed south of Bermuda, curled around Bermuda and headed NE towards the UK as a low pressure speed up by the jet stream

storm moving faster now Douglas has 65mph gusts mid afternoon today so I dont know when they shut the airport ie how high forecast gusts have to be but it may impact your flight now

Yes we took off, hovered over IoM and then turned back because it wasn't safe to land 🥲
About an hour earlier and we'd have been okay but think it's set in now

Airport reporting gusts 63mph from the 15z metar. The main runway runs W-E and the wind is from the South so its blowing across the runway so that would be why

Runway was basically flooded as well apparently. All easyJet flights cancelled rest of day so my brother not flying either. A right nuisance as it's a total waste of a day and sad for my old grandma who was looking forward to us coming - she turns 99 in a few weeks

They'll be doing it from inside the L&L studio and they'll be evicting from the backdoor.. bit crap for the 2nd live show

we just had a 63mph gust here. The grey bins were this morning, those out at work have now lost them as they have blown down the street, some bashing into parked cars

I'm assuming its just a precaution and ITV covering their own backs if something was to happen but it's still a shame for whoever does end up going tonight. I wish they'd just postpone it to Sunday or something but I guess the circumstances don't allow for production to do that on such a short notice

Storm Amy broke records overnight - Baltasound (Shetland) hit 947.9mb,
provisionally the lowest October pressure ever recorded at a UK land station,
beating Muckle Flugga’s 950.9mb in 1988.
