We've just started the second week, and we're still hearing the same topics of discussion that we've been hearing since the first highlight show.

These lot appear to have about as much depth as a puddle.

Thank God for you guys and certain family members that are into the Show, otherwise I would be long gone from this incredibly boring series.

Not sure what the expectation is, there are never any fireworks in the first week, everyone is on their best behaviour, its bubbling nicely and normal noms usually help kick off the paranoia

Well Nancy not talking about her cultural heritage every time that they show her would be nice.

Then there's Zelah with banging on about being Trans 90% of the time.

Feyisola constantly talking about being a bald headed black woman.

Cameron K referencing being a Farmer.

George turning everything into a right wing manifesto.

Teja is just being edited as the "girl from Bristol."

Jenny's just the "girl from Derry."

And didn't you know, Sam's gay?

Now I have no issues with any of these topics being discussed in themselves (they're natural everyday discussions for a lot of people around the world) but we do need a lot more depth than that.

I'd have agreed much more up to Friday.

Tonight though I did like it more.
I don't mind the conversations, I like to hear other people's life events and stories.
Even moreso on important issues.
I even warmed more tonight to Cameron the farmer, which I didn't think possible.

Tonight was only spoiled for me with the ridiculous drama of bed changing re Elsa and Marcus.
Although the task was not one of the better ones either.

So while for me, the conversations are pretty much things I like even on topics I may disagree.
Plus too that I found tonight a bit more enjoyable to watch.
I DO however agree it DOES need to pick up.

Maybe they were pitched to stick to their roles a little too well. I feel like that must happen at least somewhat before they all go in. Most everyone so far has stayed very loyal to their Myspace profile.

Except our Richard. He's the group ball collector.

I like those kinds of chats as well Joey.

I just also would like chats on some of these particular topics too.

- Household Pets

- Hobbies/interests

- What each individual HM's hometowns are like?

- What's their favourite types of food to eat

- What type of woman or man are they physically attracted too, without it being a hint towards a Showmance

- Heck! Why are they friends with certain Housemates but not others?

That's just a few off the top of my head that I can't remember really hearing many chats about, but have been topics of discussion by this point in other years of BB.

I'm glad that you're starting to enjoy it Joey, and maybe I will once nominations finally happen.

Like I said elsewhere if they showed how Lurch ( tall Cameron) is in the live stream ( plus the rest of the time )..

He’s loud , hyperactive , wandering around posing aggressively .. making people jump out of their skin , standing over them looking intimidating … literally following Nancy around when he’s had a few drinks then though she’s made it clear she’s not interested

But controversially that would make for a better experience.

It lets me be more informed about Cameron B's behaviour, plus it probably brings the other Housemates into the fold in ways that might make them more interesting too.

ITV like a lot of corporations today, just doesn't understand that depth makes for better Entertainment products, regardless of genre, style, or any kind of gimmicky ideas.

I’m hoping it’ll pick up once they’ve nominated for the first time… maybe people will start getting paranoid with who to trust and then there’s obviously the twist this week with the wearer of the cursed eye having to nominate face to face that could cause tension and make things pick up a bit.

I have to admit I feel the same. Thus far, I'm really not feeling any enthusiasm in discussing this series as much. All the HMs are very one-note and bang the same drum every night. Zelah is trans, George is soft right, Nancy is Italian, Feyisola is bald, Cameron K's a farmer, etc. We get it.

I'm in a similar spot tbh.

This is probably the least amount of threads that I have ever created for a BBUK series on here, which tells me something is wrong with this series in my eyes.

They are all too savvy these days as to what BB is and how it is won. Most just hide behind a constructed single note persona, knowing that the season is short enough to get away with it. The new BB is won by what you are, not really who you are.

But, this can still be salvaged. A shorter season means the HMs have to be broken earlier so we can see who they really are beneath the fake shell... If it's boring it's because they are being allowed to cruise through it unchallenged and that's on the production team.

It's a holiday camp in there right now. But with less booze.

…absolutely, the only thing really that none of them are savvy to is the blend of housemate personalities they’ll be sharing with…so the BB housemate experience can still..(…to some extent…)…go either way of making or breaking them……but as Simon Cowell would say, in terms of career advancement etc…?…no publicity is bad publicity…for the occasional few, yes …but no for most…Lord, poor Nasty Nick…he really had to go through it back in the day….

….I like to see those divides of rich/poor etc…I like to see the housemates trying to get their treats on the shopping list while making the math work as well…and most of all I like basic shopping budget porridge and rice every day …also we never see them without their cigarettes and prepared to sell their grandparents to BB for one little drag of a ciggie…

…it’s a different beast really for us oldies but then we try to discuss and dissect in the same way as old school BB/24 hour livefeed etc…and it’s just a struggle to get those things to gel sometimes with the new style…

How can we properly discuss something that is robbed of all context?

What I mean by that, and it's been a gripe of mine for years, is that when the whole HL show is stitched together like a montage out of super short edits you never get a chance to see how things develop or what actually caused this or that. You don't even get full conversations any more... You get an edited soundbite and then a HM going to the DR to complain about it.

Look at a classic series like BB5... The edits then were so long. Every character and situation had room to breath and you understood why the HMs felt like they did.

Now it's a montage of probably out of order short clips, often with music over the top. No context at all.

I'm not saying that I can't have fun with the modern model, I can and do, but we'll never get those old days back and that is a shame.

Yeah I was fine with the new series until that Marcus guy (I think that's his name) and the blonde bimbo started having 'relationship issues' when they've only known each other two minutes.

Now after last night's highlights show, we have Cameron B and that girl who can speak 7 languages or whatever, they're starting to tart on and people are talking about their' romance. BORING!!!

And that old woman should act her age. She's pathetic.

Also with that Irish girl, I noticed when she first came in she was all nice and smiley and she wore these 'friendly' big pink specs and she liked everyone.

Now she's ditched the specs. She's talking and bad mouthing people behind their backs and she's swearing like a trooper. Showing her true self.

That’s a good point about the main show not being a true picture ( reflection ?) of what’s really happening

We get a glimpse of things in the live stream but even that is heavily censored ..

For example in the live stream lanky Cameron is loud, obnoxious , physically intimidating and constantly instigating some kind of physical contact with the young women .. in the main show there’s none of that but he’s portrayed as a nice , funny northern lad !!

The show is heavily edited, to a point in which we don't get to see the best bits. And in truth it is like this every year, so it's hard to form a real opinion on a show which is on for one hour.
