View Full Version : Did Teja say it’s not always about race?

I’m sure Teja was trying to tell Feyisola and Zelah it’s not always about race last night in the snug, to try diffuse the accusations towards Cameron. I’m out of the UK currently to go back and check (so if somebody could would be marvellous).
The only part I recall really is seeing Fayisola and Zelah with Teja in the small room going crazy plus Teja adding comments like disgusting and disgraceful ( or something to that effect) she was definitely fanning the flames though which surprised me and in hindsight was probably inadvisable

I’m sure she was trying to calm them at one point. I can’t rewatch and check currently.

Watched it and she said language can be microaggressive without being racist, then Cameron barged in

Ahh perfect thank you. I knew she’d said something about it not always being racist in defence of Cameron.

Maybe after she realised that if the viewers sided with the excluded group she would be tainted by association

That’s a stretch even for you.
Zizu's theory isn't completely without merit. It's always handy to keep the others/viewers onside by making these meagre concessions that don't actually amount to much but still give off the vibe of being reasonable and ultimately open to dialogue.

The same could be said for Jenny. Considering she is Cameron K 's best mate in there she really let him down last night. In fact I felt she was completely sucking up to the precious victim...

Saying someone barked an order at you is neither a microagression or racist, its like when someone decided 'uppity' was racist

Oh yeah, I don’t agree it was a micro aggression either. But at least Teja was trying to subdue the racist assumption from Feyisola/Zelah. Shows she has some stand against them. She’d be wise to distance herself though from them.

It's to there with mansplaining as things I didn't think people said unironically anymore

I did think it was ironic that Zelah said it was important for Fey to have a safe space when so many of his community think this is not important for women

I just hear 'looking for offense' when people say it. Agree about mansplaining, used to mean something but doesn't now

Well said, Cherie.
