[Plans for a huge solar farm in
Lincolnshire have been given approval.
The Tillbridge Solar project,
which would cover around 3,000 acres (1,214 hectares),
is classified as a Nationally
Significant Infrastructure Project,
meaning the decision to allow the plan
is determined by the government.

The applicants said the scheme - close to the village
of Glentworth and south of the A631
between Gainsborough and Caenby Corner
- would be able to power about 300,000 homes,
making it larger than any currently built.

Opponents have said it would
"industrialise the countryside".
A map showing the proposed area
of the solar farm.
The plan shows a green shaded
area between the villages of
Springthorpe, Heapham, Upton, Kexby,
Hemswell, Harpswell, Glentworth
and Fillingham.]

Getting rid of all that green space, basically for nothing. Solar is just a racket, especially in Northern England.

I take it these panels will be made in China using coal to run the factories then shipped half way round the world. Very green.

It won't though. Solar energy is a swizz.

Making and shipping the panels, and the green space being destroyed ... it would be greener to just use fossil fuels and not make the panels.
