View Full Version : Low IQ
BB is not known for it's super intelligent housemates, but it really struck me catching up on yesterdays highlight just how low the IQ was of nearly every hm. I think Richard is the only one that would scrape a pass if he took the test today. I really can't believe what i'm watching

Richard, Tate, and Cameron K strike me as the intelligent Housemates from this series.

Haven’t both Tate and Marcus got degrees in mechanical engineering … just for starters

doesn't that say more about the standard of education in the UK than anything else. Marcus is thick. I wouldn't know so much about tate, because he is so low profile. Can people not listen to them talk, their conversation, their knowledge and their reasoning? It's beyond a joke

It's like that in the US. Sadly, I take the degree status of the younger person with a grain of salt now. We have college students that pass through public school and go into college not being able to read. Not even knowing how to turn a page and continue reading because it's a foreign concept to them. This is increasingly becoming a more common thing because of tech dependence. Accessibility was a big deal when I went (late 00s) and I remember all students had to have were the right complaints, maybe a doctors note (very easy). It would make tests much easier to pass on average with the right exclusions as they were allowed handwritten notes, etc. (Can only imagine how it is with the additional tech now)

Elsa also has a degree, in forensics.
…it’s not something that I ever really think about when I’m watching BB…they could add that to the housemate bios though…
…sorry, ignore me about the bio adding, I have a very low IQ and especially on Fridays…

I do think Elsa is smarter than she lets on.
…Elsa’s behavior/character traits are childlike and …well many descriptives but not reflective or connected at all in terms of IQ ‘intelligence’ which is a very specific thing and quite limiting in terms of judging someone…

that's why it been all but binned as a reliable metric ..... but i'm from a generation where if you didn't pass your iq test, you couldnt move up to the next school, so it has more meaning to me

You don’t have to be a member of Mensa to win big brother so that’s the answer to the thread

.................in line with target audience? last 2 highlight shows while being entertaining/offering humour were heading to being deemed insulting to
any thinking audience......................

Yes but with the last 2 winners they weren't the thickest of the bunch by a long shot!
Maybe smarter is better in this new era of bb

And deeper conversations - sometimes popping up on the live feed - aren't shown on the highlights.

True
Elsa and Cameron have some absolutely lovely little conversations on the Live Stream and they rarely ( if ever ) show the clips.. or just show Elsa in a bad light ..
It’s a tad concerning given I’m not sure Elsa is strong enough mentally to endure the constant stresses of being a housemate in the first place but rather than giving her some level of support they seem intent on destroying her completely by only showing her worst bits on the main show

The likes of Elsa and Tate are there to fill a stereotype. When they veer away from that, the producers leave it on the cutting room floor to avoid the risk of depth or colour to their personalities.
Watching just the HLs, you wouldn't realise Elsa and Cameron were actually close (we've seen them have one conversation), nor that there's seemingly an increasing bond between Richard and Tate.

Yes .. plus Elsa and Teja run around like twins having great fun in the livestream yet that is rarely , if ever , shown to the main show audience
Another example is Tate’s crazy foghorn laugh its taken nearly three weeks to be shown on the main show

Exactly. Elsa isn't shown enjoying herself. Tate isn't show much at all. The feed last night suggested, for example, that Nancy and Tate have a sibling like relationship - he openly said he was a "d**k" towards her, albeit in a jovial way. Absolutely nothing of that shown, exactly in the same way that Elsa and Teja's friendship hasn't really been presented either.

Yeah
Nancy was flirting with Tate a few nights ago
She and Sam took Tate’s duvet and pillows and hid them … he gave up looking eventually and Nancy found and took them back to him as he lay on his bed .. he was all smiles and she was defending flirting then she leant over and gave him a few seconds hug .. then danced away almost encouraging him to follow .. but he just lay there
I wonder if he’s just extremely shy
I don’t think it was shown on the main show

I think Elsa just acts thick..younger people seem to think it's endearing to be ditzy.

Why is he "thick"? Just because he isn't sitting in Big Brother having conversations about quantum physics and the likes doesn't make him thick.
People who are actually intelligent can indulge in silliness and light conversation because they aren't trying to prove anything.
Elsa also has a degree, in forensics.

That's such a cool piece of information to know about Elsa.
I would love for her to have a conversation with one of the other Housemates about her Forensics studies.

They wouldn’t show us if she did
