View Full Version : Emily - your views so far?
Stealing Ben's trademark thread title :fan:
How are you finding Emily now we're a week into her becoming a housemate? I saw so much hate for her both on launch night, once she'd been evicted and when she went back in but I'm really liking her so far. Not afraid to speak out but also very open to other people's ideas and views. She was one of the only ones who wanted to continue with the airplane task and has generally been pretty fun and energetic in what can otherwise be quite a flat house. I also respected that she was basically the only one backing Cameron in the discussion last night and seemed to realise that Jenny's comments were a bit unfair.
She seems quite well liked so far so I'm hoping she'll avoid nomination next week. Give it a bit more time and I think she'll build up quite a lot of popularity but as it stands she'd probably struggle in an eviction

She was my next one today.
I can’t say I’ve much of an opinion on her. She’s blended into the background. She’s done this for one of three reasons;
1. She’s playing safe for now to avoid being nominated as an easy target, being she’s a “new-housemate”.
Or
2. She’s really worried about being evicted again after the shambles of the first one, so she’s not allowing herself to get into deep to show her self to the public
Or
3. She’s just quite quiet and wallpaper.
I can’t quite get work out which one it is.

She's alright but not really contributing much. Aside from the playing up for the airline task (that everyone seemed to be doing at a 10/10 non-stop... which was insufferable ) I haven't really noticed her saying or doing anything. At the moment her role seems to be supporting cast to the Caroline Show.
She and farida are quickly dissolving into the background

Probably a bit of a combination of all three. I'm sure she is slightly playing it safe, is a bit nervous about another prompt exit and is actually quieter in real life than she might portray in a VT or on social media. I think we'll start seeing a lot more of her soon though especially if she's safe this week
…Emily seems nice enough as a person/I haven’t found anything not to like…but I also don’t have a huge opinion of her which maybe isn’t a good thing for a late arrival, especially…?…

She had hate for one reason and one reason only, because she said she was a conservative.
From the same group of people who are quick to tell people they shouldn't judge or discriminate and go on about inclusion.
The type of people that still voted for feyisola.
She seems decent and up for a laugh, we will see how she progresses. I think we could potentially see a clash between her and Jenny aswell at some point

…off topic but a little bit on topic, I guess that I just can’t really understand why any political leaning stuff would even enter into a bio/personal identity descriptive…the whole thing that anyone would think to include something like that would seem provocative in some way …anyway, it’s a revolving circle of ‘judgement’ in my opinion …this group of people judging/that group of people judging and round and round we go with the left foot in and the right foot in…which is what BB is, a show of us all being judgemental…but so much more interesting for me when it was about house dynamics of throwing people together that would never have linked in their every day lives…
…anyway, just Sunday morning musings because we don’t seem to get the depth of characters and quirkiness that we used to…(…other than a few rare birds…)…so they give us politics instead, as if there isn’t enough of that divide already…

Yeah I do agree either that, no need for her to have that in her introduction. Wonder if it was her idea or the producers to put it in.
Unfortunately quirky people are much less these days. A lot of people are just influenced robots
In fairness politics is actually Emily's life and career so it's always going to be a big part of her identity. George on the other hand was just latching onto contentious topics to be provocative. I think Emily would easily hold her own in any political debate but wouldn't go out of her way to bring it up in an everyday situation

…yeah, I mean…who of us would actually define ourselves by who we might vote for in terms of political party or of having met/know a specific politician…it’s just such an odd thing to in any way define…but on things like social media, it’s a very high up there in how users define so it’s very ‘aimed and targeted’, isn’t it…and for me that’s not something I like to see just because if housemates are chosen for and are going to be chosen to fulfil political leaning quotas etc…then that’s the vein of the conversations/dialogue etc that are going to be commonplace in the house…and for me, that detracts from so much of the ‘unique factor’ that BB used to represent…political divide, I can get that any time any place, anywhere type thing…

I do reckon though, if she was up for eviction this week she’d go. I can’t see many voting to save her yet.

She's rather dull I forgot she was in there to be honest.
I think she seems rather sweet in her support of Cameron. Beyond that, I do think she's got more to give and that her decisions while in the secret house hint at a very crafty and clever side. But for the moment she's playing it very safe and acting like a bit of a wallflower.

Shouldn't have been given another chance. Cameron B would have been better but even he should not have had the opportunity to win again. Out should mean out!
…I think she’s in danger, girl…if she’s up this week/as it’s a vote to save especially…she seems nice but she’s just not visible enough in highlight shows and that’s beyond her control…/…the craziness of BB producers to give her, her time in the house after snatching that time away…only to then not give her some good airtime/time, time….I can’t imagine that she hasn’t had highlights that would have given good screening/while twerking gets a bigger starring role…

The thing is right now, she’s been given a second chance and seems to be wasting it. I get she doesn’t want to be put up for eviction and may being be quiet to try avoid it, but all it’s doing is making people forget her. In a VTE it may work but in a VTS that’s not a good place to be.

…yeah totally I understand that, a second chance/late entry housemate knows that they have to make an impact and go for that airtime…but I guess that I’m a bit more cynical in thinking that maybe she has done that and BB just haven’t showed us because they decide who gets those highlights and decides on the storylines they’ll pursue….I’m just feeling a bit flat with it all atm, I think…

I feel like Emily is quite isolated in the house tbh. Like when she sat down next to Zelah on the sofa when he was talking to (I forget who). She was just sat there looking dead ahead and they didn’t even notice her or engage with her.

…yeah I do think that it’s a bit of a house of cliques/not involving everyone but as Ze said, so many seem to have ‘their person’…I guess though as well with my own thoughts…?…BB are absolutely well versed in giving a housemate highlights, they can and do engineer those things and give secret tasks etc…and with Emily…?…I just feel as though they’ve put her back in as a nod to the fans to say…look, you moany old people…we gave her a chance now you all hush up…/…to tick their own little boxes of righting the wrong they did to Emily so we stopped calling them asses…
i quite like Emily without having any concrete reasons why
I think she has a good aura

Oh, I don’t dislike her. I just can’t see she’s done enough to be spared in a VTS.

She may get nominated because she is a newbie, but i think keeping her head down is the safest option at the moment. There is lots of fur flying from other directions. Leave them to fight it out between themselves

I agree it’s one of the safest options to not be nominated, and in a vote to evict season would work for a while. But very risky for a vote to save season, because if she finds herself up I can’t see many viewers saving her due to blending in the background so much.

I think Emily is holding back personally. She seems to be very subdued and she hasn't added much of anything since coming back. She's a nice person but that's not interesting enough.. I just feel as if she's trying to avoid sharing her views perhaps?? I'd assume she's aware that they aren't popular with the majority of BB viewers and would certainly not make her popular within the house. I guess she's just.. there?? I just don't think the season has been helped by her return, although I'm glad for her that she got the opportunity to return. I wouldn't be all that bothered if she went and I'd imagine she'll be a backdoor at some point because she just floats really.
neatly swerved past certain eviction this week
