View Full Version : Comparing old BB to the present day
Something that struck me about early BB was that the conversations they had in the house could be heard down in any pub on a typical Saturday night, so it was easy to feel involved and have an opinion
Does the house reflect conversations that typical young people are having down the pub these days? The reason i ask is that most of their talk, i can't connect with at all. I just zone out and might as well not be watching

Maybe - politics is veey topical at the moment but also the housemates are very interessted in this topic

…yeah I agree with this, really…I think the house conversations/chats are quite reflective of those that many people have in current times …they just for me, need to be balanced a bit more with lighter things and that often happened through the tasks…which were much more thought out and longer lasting…it would be better to feel more of a balance because reality TV isn’t generally or only watched for ‘topical’…it’s evolved …(…or regressed…)…from a social experiment into a lighter entertainment show…/the shades/balances of lighter and topical aren't there for me atm…but yeah, in general …we are way too into strategies and gameplays and personal promos etc, for it to have remained the same and survived/thrived against other reality shows, I fear…

I genuinely think the biggest factor change is that the house is really big and bright, makes it hard for them to forget they're on TV

Could it be that we are all getting older and we don't relate to the younger generation as much as when we were around the same age?

i certainly think that is a factor, i've just noticed it more in the current series than before

I'm only a few years older than Zelah, and a few years younger than Feyisola for example.
Them two do not reflect the chats that I have in my day to day life, and I'm going to guess that they don't for many people amongst my age group either.

That's certainly what is happening.
Plus tbf, people like Marcus and Elsa who both want to be on Love Island.
